11:00 AM. Water Survival Training. DI McSweeney is leading the charge into the water. The squad runs in while fully clothed. Some on-screen text tells us that the water temperature is 43° Fahrenheit, which is pretty damn cold. In an interview, Moretty explains that DI McSweeney was showing them how to use their pants and shirts as flotation devices, which was cool. That is cool! Their pants are like little life preservers. I mean, I'd certainly rather learn that than fill sandbags or do more push-ups. DI McSweeney tells Jackson to get under the water, where it's warmer. Cut to Jackson, who looks incredibly cold and is shivering. I'm going to posit that it's because he has very little body fat -- as we saw last week, when he appeared shirtless. That makes him more susceptible to cold than the other recruits are. DI McSweeney asks whether any other recruits are cold, and one look at Whitlow's nipples should have answered that question. I'm just saying. They could cut glass. Brown and Wolf both cop to being cold. In an interview, Brown says that DI McSweeney lightened up during the training, and was amused that they were afraid of being eaten by an alligator. Yeah, the one alligator in that lake.

The recruits stand on the beach, soaking wet, and DI McSweeney advises them to move around to stay warm. He, meanwhile, is standing ankle-deep in the water, wearing only shorts and a t-shirt. The people on the forums who are in love with him and call him things like "McSweetie" must be loving this one. I don't see it, but whatever floats your boat. I just wish it were DI Rosenbum. DI McSweeney orders the recruits back into the water, but Jackson inexplicably stays behind. DI McSweeney can't believe Jackson can't "gut this out," and orders Jackson to sit on the beach. In an interview, Moretty is also surprised, especially because they might need this training for their mission, and because Jackson didn't get any punishment for his refusal. In an interview, DI McSweeney explains that Jackson was hurting himself, because it would hurt his standing in the squad. DI McSweeney tells the recruits that they have to beat him to the beach, or they'll have to go back in the water. In an interview, Jackson says that he doesn't want to have to "die of hypothermia." Oh, come on. If that were really a danger, I think they would have postponed the exercise. They've certainly been more than understanding of others' physical problems. Jackson is dumb, dumb, and dumb. Especially after Coddington got voted off last week, mostly out of resentment for her lack of participation. In an interview, Moretty says that it's not fair that Jackson wasn't punished, proving DI McSweeney's point. And then the alligator is swimming! In the pond!
