Beckanne asks for a sidebar with Adam. She tells him about her visit to Philadelphia (which I feel like she must have cleared with him in advance, since it was right before Cinderella?) and how it reminded her what's important and that she's feeling much more motivated and committed now. Adam tells us how happy he is that Beckanne's gotten back on Team Ballet West, because he has big plans for her. Man, she is going to throw Christiana down a flight of stairs, isn't she?
Beckanne practices her number, in which she recreates the role immortalized by the voice of Demi Moore, tambourine and all. Allison and Rex also rehearse, and it's very sexy. Rex says in a talking head that it's hard to separate the performance from their personal history, and then he detours into the strangest way anyone has ever voiced their opposition to being used for rebound sex. I quote it in full: "Her decision to leave Jon was hers. At the same time, I'm not going to receive her, just like that." This is how Sexy Rexy plays hard to get, apparently.
Allison and Christiana, still in their rehearsal clothes (and it only looks funny because Allison's leotard is almost totally backless, so it's all demure buns! Flats and tights! Aaaaaand every single one of Allison's vertebrae!), walk down the luxuriously green hill behind the mansion to have a seaside picnic 'n' debriefing on The Christopher Problem. While Chris and Ronnie, all suited up and suave-looking and be-sunglassed, like extremely flexible Secret Service agents, hang out on one of the mansion's terraces, Christiana talks about how hard it is to be here with Chris, you know, Because of That Terrible Thing He Did, Whatever It Was.
Christiana cries in her talking head when she talks about separating from Chris. She says it's the worst thing she's ever gone through, and that's coming from a woman who can withstand an awesome amount of physical pain. Back on the grassy hill, she tells Allison her life isn't anything to celebrate right now. Allison hugs her, and I'm happy they have this friendship. Because I really do want the best for my precious little CW dance puppets, despite my original curmudgeonly instincts.
Fund-raiser time! Guests arrive, and Beckanne galumphs across the lawn in her costume and a pair of purple knit Uggs. She's all grace, that girl. Adam greets the fund-givers and introduces the Cinderella number, the ballroom pas de deux from the end of the show.
