The Senator tells the television audience that he had a heart attack ironically on the same day his son was born. How Kitty managed that day he'll never know. As he talks, Kitty is at the doctor's office. The Senator talks about facing his mortality and how frightening it is. The door opens at the doctor's office and The Senator walks in. He has her favorite banana nut muffin and a big kiss. They look really happy. As Kitty gets her biopsy, The Senator's interview continues. He explains that he mislead the public, but he also mislead himself because he was scared. But now that he is talking about it, he knows that it has brought what is most important into focus and brought his family closer together. He hugs Kitty while she gets her biopsy and I really do hope this brings them closer. I like them as a couple and I know there were divorce rumors, but I hope Kitty's cancer is an alternative to the divorce scenario. And I'm serious about punching some writers if he starts fathering children with floozies while she struggles with cancer.
Nora sits alone on a park bench. She is staking out Saul's favorite walking path in order to apologize for snapping at him. As Nora apologizes she takes a deep breath and then starts in with the acting. I'm already tearing up as she starts trying to hold in Kitty's secret while almost gasping for air. Saul is confused but trying to comfort an increasingly tearful Nora and finally Nora quietly blurts, "Kitty's sick." He gasps when she says it's cancer. She sobs that it should be her, that she's old, that Kitty has a baby. I'm making my ancient Chihuahua nervous with all my tears at this point. Saul holds Nora tight as she cries on his shoulder. Maybe I can get Television Without Pity to give me a tissue stipend for this season. I'm going to need it.
