As Nora's leaving, Tommy calls out, asking where she's going, and she gives him an assful of buckshot: he can't order her around anymore, she's useless around Ojai and she knows that, but she used to be an executive secretary and her boss always said she'd end up running the company. But then she had Sarah, and Kitty, and the rest of them. Tommy is puzzled, saying he didn't think Nora had any regrets. She says she should, the way her children treat her (although it's not like she didn't earn a certain measure of derision with her daffy-mom routine in this episode), but then says she doesn't have regrets. She did read that boss's obituary in the paper recently, though, and she felt sad; now nobody remembers her the way she was then. But she made her choices, and she remembers now that they were the right choices. Tommy frowns. Nora starts to leave, then turns to inform Tommy, although it clearly pains her, that Ojai should buy the vineyard: "It's obviously a very good deal."
Kitty comes into McCallister's office; he's on the phone with the L.A. Times, and covers the receiver to ask her if he has any comment on why his divorce proceedings are staying sealed. She takes the phone from him and, in dealing with the reporter, makes it clear that 1) she's taking the job, and 2) McCallister is going to give a statement saying he didn't sleep with the nanny, because if he doesn't, it looks like he's concealing something. Kitty predicts some unpleasantness, but says she'll get him through it. He asks about how his kids get through it, and Kitty sighs that that's his job. "And your brother? Is he okay with you working here?" He'll live, Kitty says, as long as McCallister doesn't vote for any more gay marriage bans. Don't worry, McCallister says, picking up a newspaper: "My own brother wouldn't let me do that again." Kitty is sputtery at finding out belatedly that McCallister's brother is also gay; McCallister's like, it wasn't really relevant during a job interview, but you're on staff now, so...now you know. She makes "is he single" noises and McCallister is like, don't even think about it, but we all know how that turns out so let's move on...
