School. The gang is walking around the courtyard and discussing the rumors flying around about the deaths. Cordy has no idea what happened, and asks for the story. This part is very boring, and we already basically know what happened, so I'm going to skip it. I try to look out for you people. Buffy sees Scott looking forlorn, or at least a little less blank than usual, and goes to him. Cordy: "Great. Now I'm going to be stuck with serious thoughts all day." Willow, Oz, and Xander all exchange a knowing smile. It was cute. Argh!
Buffy sits with Scott. She doesn't know what to say. Scott monotones that he was friends with both of them since before they started school, but that he's going to be okay. "It's just, you never really know what's going on inside somebody, do you. You think, if you care about them...but you never really do." Wow, two anvils weigh a lot more than one. Buffy looks guilty.
We flash to the opening shot of the camera moving through the woods. Buffy recites another passage from The Call Of The Wild, and we cut to the mansion, where a worried Buffy is watching Angel sleep fitfully. "'Yet he retained his wildness and wiliness, and from the depths of the forest, the call still sounded.'" I guess they're right that anvils come in threes.
That being said, I didn't hate this episode. Is it because Marti Noxon occasionally does things right? Or am I just going soft? You make the call.
