Angelus voice-over: "It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow." Giles stands before his front door, and then pulls off the police tape and enters. Angelus VO continues, "Empty rooms, shuttered and dank. Without passion we'd be truly dead." Giles lays flowers on Jenny's grave. He tells Buffy, "In my years as Watcher I've buried too many people. But Jenny was the first I've loved." Buffy apologizes for not killing Angelus when she had the chance, but says that she wasn't ready. As she says, "But I think I finally am," we see Willow nervously enter the computer classroom. She explains she'll be filling in for Ms. Calendar until the new teacher arrives. She puts her stack of papers on Ms. Calendar's desk. Buffy voice-overs: "I can't hold on to the past anymore. Angel has gone. Nothing's ever gonna bring him back." The yellow computer disc on which Jenny recorded the spell slips off the desk. It falls into the narrow space between the desk and a filing cabinet, bouncing in slo-mo.
