Over at Madeline's, she brings Sam her lipstick tray at the dining room table, and wonders what he wants with them. "That's sort of NTK," Sam says. Even Madeline can figure out that means "need to know." Still, she can tell Sam's going to plant a bug on Fi, probably because the crafts tray of miniature listening devices Sam has open is kind of a giveaway. Madeline recommends "Midnight Shadows" for its heft. As Sam gets to work, Michael VOs, "Planting a surveillance device inside an existing item is all about working with what you have. If the battery necessary to power a bug is too big, you can't use it. A tracker with a ping system, on the other hand, can send your location in bursts and doesn't suck a lot of power, making a terrific accessory for any lady on the go." Or Fi.
Back in his blazer and cap, Sam heads over to Gabriel's. He sets the lipstick on top of Gabriel's right front tire (so I guess Gabriel and Fi are back, and let's hope he doesn't pop out for smokes before he and Fi head out to do crime) and then pretends to inspect the grass some more until a goon emerges from the house to eject him from the premises yet again.
Michael and Gilroy are at a low bridge in the woods somewhere as Michael remarks that he thought they'd meet nearer the airport. Gilroy says to let the flight records go, already: "Your stage is here." He explains that he'll be driving through there tomorrow, and it'll be up to Michael to keep it clear, until Gilroy picks him up at a rendezvous point. Michael asks when he gets to play with the .50-caliber -- which for some reason Gilroy has pulled out of the back of the Range Rover right now -- and Gilroy says that's all his, to take care of anyone who gets past Michael and the bridge. "Of course one prefers not to use such things in populated areas, the rounds go for miles," Gilroy muses. Michael is a little grumpy about how this is going. "You said we were partners," he complains. Gilroy agrees. "I'm the partner who tells you what to do, and you're the partner who does it." "Hilarious," Michael says. "Have fun on your own." As Michael starts to walk away, Gilroy says it's about a man. "An inmate. He hand-picked you for this job. I'd say he was rather obsessed with you." Just what Michael needed, another red flag. But Gilroy won't reveal the man's name. "He'd kill me if I spoiled the surprise." And we certainly can't have that. Michael keeps walking. But then the transformer on the pole next to where he parked the Charger explodes spectacularly. As he turns, a semi-dazed Gilroy steps away from the smoking BFG, removes his ear protection, and says, as threateningly as he can manage, "Tomorrow, don't come for me. Don't come for the obscene fortune we're going to make. Come for all the people I have to kill if you don't do your job." Wow. Clearly Gilroy does not want to resort to an understudy for this performance.
