And then suddenly we're in this room, except it's filled with models, walking around and posing for nobody, or each other, or something. Some fashion crap. While that's going on, Michael touches base with Isabella. She seems disappointed that Sam didn't show up, so Michael explains that he's up in Tim's office. As Sam tosses the room, Michael VOs, "If you're dealing with a trained operative, there are hundreds of places to hunt for documents. If you're searching a desk jockey's office, it's a far shorter list. Before you can say, 'in the cabinet, behind the bookshelf, or under the desk,' you've usually found what you're looking for." Sure enough, Sam has located a couple of fat ledgers crammed into the underside of Tim's desk. He starts taking photos. Is he going to do that with every page? This could take a while.
Meanwhile, at the party, Michael asks Isabella to point Tim out so he can keep an eye on him. Tim is currently yelling at some models, until the subtitles tell us he is "Tim -- Suspected Thief." Having duly terrorized some female underlings, Tim then goes over to a Chris Kattan-looking dandy, and Michael asks who that is. That would be Damon, Isabella's business partner. Apparently he's the designer. Speaking of which, she says she's supposed to be at home, looking at his designs. Michael advises her to take off and he'll call later, so she does. That was an odd exchange. She's bailing on her own party to do homework, and Michael lets her out of his sight? He should know better. Or maybe he just wants to be alone at the party so he can concentrate on working. "Spies are trained to keep track of multiple conversations at the same time," he says. "Standing alone as you eavesdrop is too obvious." I don't know, it usually works for me at TARcons. "You need to engage in a cover conversation near your target." Keeping his eyes on Tim and Damon, Michael half-chats up some chick who asks who he's wearing. "Black Suit?" Michael shrugs, as though an unemployed guy who regularly goes to the trouble and discomfort of wearing suits in Miami isn't particular about how he looks. He gets her talking about her dress so he can tune her out and VO, "Pure lip-reading takes years to master. But confirming what you're hearing by checking lips is a much easier skill to pick up." The camera fixes close in on Damon's facial topiary as he tells Tim, "Don't get upset at me. She said it." Tim's mouth says he's going to go talk to "her" now. Michael disengages from his boring lady as his cell phone rings, with Sam calling to say he found the books, and just sent Michael some pictures of them. Michael says he's going to Isabella's to show them to her. Oddly, Sam is okay with Michael hijacking his client this way. "I'll leave Tim's office how I found it," he says. "Ugly."
