The Carrie Diaries is really getting pretty serious, with Maggie's abortion and Walt's society pages outing and all. But those are just the ancillary people in Carrie's life. Her life is great, and she's back with Sebastian again and this time, they're kissing with tongue. I miss Weaver from a couple episodes ago, but we're not supposed to. Carrie and Sebastian are together, holding hands, walking through the halls with Maggie, who everyone is staring at because she lost her baby and almost died and people think Sebastian is the father, I guess.
Carrie has been telling people that Maggie was out with a burst appendix but Maggie says most people know she was pregnant. Maggie says it is one of the worst days of her life (what about when she almost died, though?), then Mouse runs in saying it's the greatest day of her life because she got into Harvard. Everyone congratulates her, but then we see Walt is missing. At home, because Walt doesn't need to be in school today maybe, Walt's waspy mother has packed him some small suitcases. His father doesn't want to see him and they're kicking him out. So yeah, not a good day for Walt.
Walt shows up with his suitcases on Carrie's doorstep so Carrie asks her dad if Walt can stay with them. I don't know why Tom has any reservations about this at all, since he invited Dorrit's boyfriend Miller to stay with them not too long ago. He says he's not sure they should be getting involved in another family's issues. Tom also admits that he's uncomfortable with it because Walt is gay, saying, "I don't even know someone who's gay." Ughhh, this show. Tom changes his tune after Carrie makes a statement.
Tom tells Walt to "enjoy your gay, er, I mean your stay." I can't sigh loudly enough. Dorrit is rude and bitchy, which she hasn't been as much this season but whatever. At work, Bennett tells Carrie he invited Walt to stay with him but he said no. Then, things lighten up very quickly as Samantha informs them she booked a gig as a sexy elf for Bongo Jeans. Carrie admits she wants to stop making cappuccinos and start being thought of as a writer.
Larissa is back from her "Fall holiday" ("the one with the turkey?") in Aspen and insists that denim is the future. I'm on board. She tells the writers she wants stories about cowboys and the frontier, and then tells someone who is not Carrie to get her a cappuccino. Carrie is on track to get back in Larissa's good graces if she can pitch a great Americana story. She is excited about Bongo Jeans, which is Samantha's gig and also probably the sponsor of this episode.
