Daddy's Girl

Back in Sarah's hotel room, they're celebrating their victory with champagne. Gary Cole tells them he's going to get some ice. Chuck tells Sarah it went pretty well, and she agrees that her dad pulled through for her, this one time. Casey gets a call from Agent Redhead. He tells her the money was transferred, but the CIA account never got the money. Sarah goes running out and sees the ice bucket where her dad left it in the hall. Chuck checks for the laptop they used to wire the money, but it's gone too. And Gary Cole's driving away in a convertible, hair blowing in the breeze with the laptop in the backseat.

Chuck shows up at Sarah's the next morning with coffee and chocolate croissants and comfort. He asks if she's okay and she says she's fine. She says her dad will turn up, and she's more upset they didn't get to freeze the sheik's accounts. Chuck's sorry he talked her into trusting her father, but she says she already had learned to always expected disappointment from her father. But we can tell she's disappointed and didn't totally expect it anyway, and so can Chuck. She then says it's her fault, and Chuck tells her it's not. He tells the backstory of his own father: He was an unusual man, an engineer, who left Ellie and him eleven years ago. They used to get Christmas cards and birthday cards and then one year it just stopped. Chuck says he doesn't know why but, thanks to time and therapy, he does know it's not his fault. Am I the only one surprised Chuck goes to (or went to) therapy? Chuck tells Sarah her father's sins aren't hers. She tells him this is all very eloquent for 3 a.m., and he's like, "Of course. I'm an articulate schnook." Sarah: "Lucky for me." Seriously.
