YOU GRADE IT
Out of the mouths of babes

And now we're in a doctor's office. I'm going to go out on a limb here and hypothesize that the previous scene's emphasis on sound, Gil's response to it, and the giant sculpture of the inner ear the good doctor is using as a bookend in this scene are all building up to some revelation about Gil's hearing. And here it is: Gil's got otosclerosis, the hereditary auditory impairment that rendered his mother deaf. The malady is irreversible. BUT what the doctor did not say is that it's untreatable. She also doesn't answer Gil's question: "How long, do you think?" "I don't know," she replies, thus tying the thread that will leave the plot dagger of Gil's impending deafness dangling over the series' head until the end of the summer break.

And that's it for Season Two. Please direct a deafening round of applause towards editor extraordinaire Sars ["as always, the pleasure is mine" -- Sars], and then towards yourselves for a) signing up for the email list, b) reading the recaps, and c) posting in the forums; your participation rocks my world. Yay, everyone! See you in the fall.
