The CW Goes Meta

The same bored/suspicious detective from earlier shows up to question Jeff. Jeff is flustered. His hair is flustered. I think his 'do has some kind of magic power to reflect his emotional state. Merriam's husband denies his wife ever watched the show, says the detective. She's inclined to believe him over Jeff, seeing as how Jeff got fired for faking a source. "Six D.C. cops went to jail because of that story," she says. "They went to jail and they're still in jail because they're dirty," Jeff seethes. The detective stomps off. Jeff starts to explain to Skye about his story, but she's super understanding about it all.

Jeff heads back to Nate's place without Skye. He checks out some episodes for clues. In the Inner Show, Kelly and her partner return to the shed. This time, she looks at the wall with her 3D glasses and finds a symbol like Billy's tattoo. Beyond it is a hidden door and chamber. They find a wooden crate with a CD taped to the outside, marked only with a circled "M." When she opens the box, she finds her nephew, exhausted but alive.

Jeff is inspired to take another look at Nate's belongings. He finds a photo of himself and Nate as children. It looks like a colorized photo from the 1950s, even though it should be from the 1990s, if Nate is only 20. Even their clothes and hair look totally retro. Next, he flips through Nate's notebook and finds a sketched version of that photo. Hidden behind it is a CD... just like the one he saw on TV.

Somewhere in town, Inner Show is doing an outside shoot. It rains a lot more in this L.A. than the one I remember. Alona Tal and Kadeem Hardison are filming a scene where their characters find a dead woman. The pushy network guy from earlier leaves the shoot under the shifty waitress's shifty gaze.

Somewhere in a dark alley, the detectives find a body in the dumpster. He's wearing a shirt from Inner Show. The bored/suspicious detective says the DNA test from Nate's chair is back (already?) and the blood isn't his. Maybe it belongs to this new dead guy. "Something tells me the older brother, the reporter, is gonna connect to all of this," says the bored/suspicious detective.
