The Gods Must Be Crazy

A Diner: Madelyn interviews Dave. His mother, a music teacher, was killed by a drunk driver when he was 12. His Da met her at a match-making festival. Madelyn is charmed by that, and by his notable lack of cool (a picture of his mother is the screen saver on his hand-held). Trevor catches up with them, ruins the romantic vibe, and suggests that Madelyn get the Post to hire a sketch artist to draw a sketch of Holly based on Trevor's description. And we jump to...

Felix's Bed: And hey, we don't know him that well, yet! There's a banging sound that wakes him up. He trudges down the hall and finds Trevor is the source of the noise. Oh and there's cute doggies in this scene, too. Trevor is stringing up a billards tally (beads and a string) across his rented room. Felix tells Trevor that Lita heard him and Claire arguing about whether he's Cupid. Trevor explains Claire's his shrink and that's a "bone of contention" between them. Felix thought Trevor's name was "Ed Ross." Trevor says, "Errrosssss. That's what the Greek's call me. The Italians say Cupid. Take your pick." Felix will go with Trevor, thanks. When Felix questions him about the billiards tally, Trevor tells him about the 100 couples quota, and this is how he'll keep track and oh my word do I have to hear any more exposition?

New York Post: Dave gives the sketch artist his comments while Trevor complains that he's hungry for Greek food. Madelyn is all up for Baklava, but the artist reminds her that she and Dave have to meet the photographer at Coney Island. Trevor has a meeting, so he'll catch up with them at the Ferris Wheel. Dave spots a (really badly photo-shopped) picture of Madelyn, with Hall and Oates, on her P.C. She's adorkably pleased and double-thumbs towards herself while explaining that "they invited the webmasters of the 10 top fansites to hang out back stage." Now Dave feels better about his "Property of the Borg" boxer shorts and WE SHOULD ALL BE ENTIRELY SURE THAT THEY'RE FALLING IN SWEET, GEEKY, TOTALLY UNCOOL LOVE. So of course the sketch artist has to pick that moment to finish his drawing of Holly, and totally spoil the buzz.
