The Faux Photo Op Address: Hallie shows up wearing a Kelly green coat that just does wonderful things for the already lovely Constance Zimmer. The photo op is all just a big ruse to get Hallie to see that Marshall is boxing, which she does, but by the look on Marshall's face, I think he's as surprised to see his mother there as she is to see him. And he's boxing with Clint, who's also taken aback. Hallie wants to know why Marshall lied. He reminds her of her feelings against violence. She reminds him that boxing isn't "bombing Cambodia." It's a sport. She mightn't love it, but it is okay with her; the lying, however, is not. Neither is the matchmaking. He fesses up to the radio station contest being a fix up (true), and says that Trevor is his "tutor" (not true in the way mom would be taking that word) as well as a bartender Tres Equis (true) where mom likes to hang out (really?). Marshall tries to talk Hallie into giving Clint another chance, but she compares him to the most awesome slice of pizza in the word, "covered in sneeze." Thanks for putting me off pizza, right at the start of our busy Little League season, Rob.
Soon after, Clint talks to Hallie about Marshall's matchmaking and they both agree what a good kid Marshall is, which is the way to win over a mom. Hallie and Clint decide to go to the wine tasting after all. I'll cross my fingers that there's no snot pizza there, Clint. Trevor and Marshall walk them to the hotel and the two of them pimp all the community service Clint does that will appeal to Hallie. She asks him to think about letting her do a "Community Hero" segment on him for PSB.
Marshall's underage, and can't attend the wine tasting so he and Trevor watch from a floor above, as Hallie and Clint hit it off for the second time. Marshall moves off to watch Hallie and Clint from another angle, just in time to clear the stage so that Claire and Liv can find Trevor. He's tickled to meet his shrink's mother. "If you don't mind me saying, your daughter is... incredibly beautiful. But she's a pain in the ass." Liv laughs. "I see you know her well." And then Liv is used as a drill, and she bores giant holes into our head then fills them up with a lot of talk about this amazing chemistry between her daughter and Trevor, BECAUSE OTHERWISE WE WOULDN'T HAVE NOTICED. Meanwhile, below, Hallie and Clint continue to hit it off. Back above, Trevor slips to Claire that Clint was Hallie's sperm donor/Marshall's bio dad. Trevor never notices that Claire is horrified by this fix up. He thinks it's such an obvious match, that he's starting to feel like "Destiny's wingman." Which makes me wish I was listening to Destiny's Child, instead of watching this show, even though I can't think of one song they've done. At any rate, Marshall interrupts all this "chemistry" to point out that Hallie and Clint are now kissing.
