The Dance: Quickstep. It starts out kind of weird with a leap in the air. They quickly get into the traditional steps and hops. Cameron screws up the footwork a little bit. I just realized that they're dancing to a jazzy version of Why Can't I Be You" by the Cure. Weird. It ends with another leap, which feels like pushing it to me. We get that Cameron's athletic; he doesn't need to jump around like a monkey.
Judges: Carrie Ann thought Cameron was really energetic, but it might have been a little out of control. Len tells Cameron to calm down, and says he didn't like the beginning and end, but he thought the middle part was great. Bruno thought it was too much flash and not enough dance steps. Len points out that Cameron has two dances tonight with tons of steps in them, so they need to take that into consideration.
Scores: Carrie Ann 8, Len 8, and Bruno 8 for a total of 24 out of 30. Samantha thinks being in the bottom two might incite people to vote for them. Cameron says that they try to make their routines fun to watch. He's certainly got more energy than boring Jane. I'm so over her.
Helio and Julianne Take Two: Samba. Helio's got some tight pants on, so he won't be able to avoid showing off some hip action. He does some grinding alone in the beginning, but during the dance itself, he doesn't have much movement. Julianne does her best to cover it up by shaking what her mama gave her, and they even do some samba rolls. I think they messed up the ending, because they both start cracking up.
Judges: Bruno liked it, and thinks it's their comfort zone. Carrie Ann agrees with Bruno, and likes to see them doing the Latin dances. Len says, "Just become you come from Brazil doesn't mean you're going to be good at the samba, just like just because you come from Texas doesn't mean you're going to be a good President." The crowd goes NUTS as Len protests that it was a joke. Len concludes that it was great. Ooh, more DanceCenter is tomorrow night! Yay!
Scores: Helio liked the Brazil flavor in the samba, and he had fun. Carrie Ann 9, Len 9 and Bruno 9 for a total of 27 out of 30. Their combined score is 52 out of 60.
Marie and Jonathan Take Two: Cha-cha-cha. Marie starts out up on the platform with Jonathan sitting in the audience, and then she draws him out onto the floor with her feather boa. Marie is kind of growing on me. She was not my favorite at the beginning, but she seems like she'd be fun to have drinks with, if she weren't Mormon and probably didn't drink. But you could have a raucous scrapbooking party. Their dance is kind of slow in tempo, and there are a few parts where they look like they're kind of just walking around instead of dancing.
