Vivian, from the ground: "What, Julian? You wanna beat me to death and throw me in the river?"
Julian: "Uh, no? That's insane?"
Vivian: "Because you're not man enough to do it!"
Then she runs off into the night. I don't know Vivian very well, but she does seem very like a trainwreck. Especially considering that this is her having supposedly gotten her act together.
Julian: "I got in my car and chased her to apologize, but then she ran across the highway like a freak, so I lost her. Went home."
Julian runs off to go cry or do some lines or whatever, while Joanna just loudly voices her hopes that the guys in the FBI van running her wire heard that whole non-confession, I guess because it was rough to listen to.
LATER
Joanna: "So he fully told me he punched her out of nowhere. I guess the rest of the alibi..."
Will: "No! He was just faking! Getting ahead of it, in case we connect him to the punch."
Joanna: "He doesn't know I'm a cop. He doesn't know I was wired. What are you talking about?"
Will: "I just really want him to have done it, because I am a jealous POS."
Joanna: "Well, I was actually there when he was telling the story and he didn't."
Will: "I refuse to believe any of the rational things you're saying, because I'm the worst!"
Since Julian said he drove Viv's car home, they got some guys to look at footage from his probable route. So far, it checks out, but that doesn't mean Joanna's done yet. Since they haven't solved the murder and all. Julian calls, earning Joanna some bitchy side-eye as though this too is somehow her fault. Or something she planned -- like losing her virginity twenty years ago -- solely to get Will's goat.
Julian: "Hey, sorry I got all drunk and emotional last night like you wanted. We can break up if you want."
Joanna: "No, I was happy you trusted me. Want to go on another date?"
Julian: "Come to my place and I will make you dinner. At six o'clock."
Joanna: "Okay, but I'll be wearing a wire so you can't murder me or it'll look really bad."
Joanna, verbatim: "All right, so dinner tonight: his place, just the two of us."
Will, verbatim: "Just the two of you and that wire, you mean."
