First of all, Will just keeps getting more and more horrible. I really don't get the gameplan with this douchebag at all. He reacts with third-grade emotions to everything that happens, his dialogue is 90 percent reiterating shit we already know, and he's not even very good at his job. I have had it with this tool. I mean, Julian is boring too but at least he's not a prick all the time.
Anyway. Bowers Patriarch Robert is steadfast in his desire to avoiding spending time with John Larroquette, for whatever secret reasons we still don't get to find out, which continues to ruin everybody's day because he is not coming up with better solutions to the basic dilemma here, which is Robert needs Larroquette to be happy with them in order to railroad approval of their drug, but Robert simultaneously also does not want to deal with Larroquette. Stuck for a way to deal with these exclusive opposites, Julian asks Edward to visit the Senator on his sex boat and come at the problem from behind.
Edward, it turns out, is among the people of the world curious as to whether he raped and strangled Kimberly Yeager: Apparently he blacked out and found her corpse and called daddy, and when it was over with the Senator had covered the whole thing up. Driven even more crazy by this information, or lack thereof, Edward returns to Robert for one of their weirder conversations, in which Robert expressly avoids telling him the truth and then gives him many a hug -- and later, knocks the shit out of Larroquette himself, for yet more vague paternal reasons.
But that's not the worst thing that happens to Edward that day, not by a long shot. A botched FBI raid on Ben Preswick's safehouse sends Ben to Edward's garage, where he knocks him out and steals his car and credentials for Bowers Pharmaceuticals, the better to download his mysterious whistleblower information while Edward lies in a coma or whatever. Which is where Joanna finds him, at the very end of this characteristically uneventful-but-still-fun episode.
The majority of the episode is Joanna failing to get a taped confession out of Julian, and so by their third or fourth date where she fails to do this, he finally figures out that she thinks he's capable of murder, and dumps her after admitting that he punched his sister in the face, then provides an alibi for the rest of the night. But then since Will is also mad at her -- for reasons I don't understand at all, maybe for giving Julian her virginity when they were teenagers? -- and her mom is busy being crazy, so she's all alone and intense and weird about everything. Which is par for the course, with ol' Joanna, but doesn’t explain why she keeps apologizing to Will all the time.
Meanwhile, Sofia is instrumental in putting Robert and Mia's relationship back together after she flakes on him and preps for next week's Cotillion to motorbike around with her cro-mag boyfriend and go to yet another of those hipster trampoline Grouplove monkey-mask photography parties that are all the rage in Brooklyn right now. (Awful, as per.) In the end Robert and Sofia end up waltzing around a drawing room with Mia and her boyfriend and it is so super weird but also kind of cute. As usual, Mia is as incandescent as she is annoyingly written, Robert is as charming as he is dangerous, and Sofia... Ah, Sofia.
What's Sofia up to this week? I can tell you wanna know about that. And the answer is that what Sofia's up to this week is talking in a crazy accent that you have never heard before in your life, like Gwyneth and Madonna working together in some Kaballah Accent Factory could not come up with this weird of an accent, and digging around in her closets for things you don't even understand what she's talking about, giving Bob excellent parenting advice from the bottom of a bottle of white wine, and -- further to the theory that she believes herself to be in an episode of Game Of Thrones -- literally threatening to eat people's hearts.
Next Week: Hopefully Tater's not out of the mix for too long, as he's the best part -- after Sofia -- of this entire glacially moving enterprise, presumably Will deigns to forgive Joanna at least on a probationary basis for existing, and on the eve of Cotillion the truth about Mia's parentage comes out. Which Joanna's still convinced will get her killed, which I'm still not buying. Oh, and Joanna gets some info from Ben Preswick that will not be all that helpful, if the last four episodes provide any example.

PREVIOUSLY
Joanna accompanied Julian Bowers to a pharmaceutical conference in the Caribbean, where they met with Senator Dwight "Larroquette" Haverstock, who's got a complicated history with Bowers père and holds the keys to FDA approval for Julian's pet project, the poisonous cancer treatment Lyritrol. Brothers Julian and Edward were both aware of their dead sister Vivian's whistleblowing campaign, but only Edward knew her contact, Ben Preswick, was also the father of her unborn child. Nearly seduced by Julian's lifestyle and imaginary charisma, Joanna was shocked by evidence that Julian punched his sister the night she died -- and was so disgusted that she ended up back in her FBI handler's bed.
NOW
Will: "So I guess now Julian is Suspect #1? That makes me feel strong and important, because I am jealous of your long-standing relationship with him, because I am an idiot."
Joanna: "But you're my idiot. Let's narrate a quick recap of the entire series to date, what do you say?"
Will: "Good idea. I'm worried that only idiots watch this show."
HOURS LATER
Gabe: "Isn't it so weird how you keep going on fake dates with Julian and Will has to listen to you on your fake dates with Julian?"
Will: "We already covered that, but yes. It is very weird."
Joanna: "It's only weird because I'm a woman and you think I'm retarded and a whore. There is no other reason for you to be this one-note sucky about it. Frankly, I should be insulted, rather than hooking up with you ever other episode."
Will: "And yet."
Joanna: "And yet. Kiss kiss."
Will: "Speaking of being professional, I really wish that Edward had killed his sister. But I'm willing to obsess on Julian instead, if that makes me look even lamer."
Gabe: "Or we could do our jobs. Like it matters who you wish the perpetrator was. Way to make a place in your life for irrational confirmation bias."
DATE #1
Julian: "I sure do think I'm charming!"
Gabe: "Joanna is so good at pretending Julian isn't a douchebag."
Will: "What's that supposed to mean?"
Gabe: "Just that I admire her. As a liar. As a woman who lies and breaks hearts."
Will: "I said what do you mean."
Gabe: "Neither of us really care. Want a beer for this stakeout?"
Will: "No, because I am in the FBI. You're just a cop, you wouldn't understand."
