Cliff's office. Dylan is getting chewed out for not catching the whole "grandma gives birth to her own grandson" thing coming. Cliff throws a stack of papers at him for emphasis. He breaks it down for the boy scout: Graham sits on the board of corporations that are clients of the firm. After he takes the grandson's deposition, he's to draw up a settlement that grants Graham custody of the boy. Dylan isn't sure he can do it, but Cliff says he'd better, or he'll make sure Dylan never practices law again. "Now leave before I set you on fire," Cliff says calmly. Heh.
Fountain outside the courthouse. Katie joins Dylan on a bench and tells him she's failed the bar exam. Again. Turns out she went to law school, about which I care not at all. She goes on about how she also just broke up with her boyfriend, about which I also do not care. Dylan is more sympathetic than I am, though. They smile and make goo-goo eyes at each other for a while until Dylan leaves to go take the grandson's deposition.
Susan's office. Addy has been summoned. Susan is pissed that Dylan filed the motion that Addy was supposed to file. "We're done here," Susan says, turning her back to Addy. Addy almost leaves, then decides now's the time to find her spine. She points out that she's a good lawyer and she knows the case law that Susan's cited has been superseded and will sink the asbestos case. She blathers on for a while about how awesome Susan is and how she does the right thing even though she's married to the Prince of Darkness. Susan admires this spunky turn and puts Addy on the asbestos case, but warns her against calling her husband names in the future. Addy happy flounces out of the office and right into Hart and Eggs from True Blood. She apologizes cutely before scampering off. Hart introduces Eggs to Susan as Malcolm Bennett, their newest first-year associate. Susan, smiling, excuses herself and Hart before closing the door on a puzzled Malcolm. Susan points out that Cliff is supposed to hire the first-years, but Hart is quite pleased with himself. Commercials.
