What we didn't know is that Amanda and Connor's history also includes her working with the E-Rep, when she was "young and stupid" and thought they could change the world. (And based on her response to Nolan's romantic questions a few weeks ago, perhaps chose Nicky Riordan over whatever Connor represented, in some sad way or another.)
Connor: "...Help pick the world up again, brush off the rubble, and find a way for all of us -- Votan and Human -- to coexist."
Amanda: "Look around, Connor. I found it. Just not with the Earth Republic."
Connor: "It's impressive! What if you brought that passion back to the E-Rep, with real power behind you. Come to the central office in New York, with me. Be a territory governor, immediately. Just say yes."
Amanda: "I am not the woman you think I am, anymore. Maybe I never was. Plus, I have that election coming up..."
Connor: "Do you even have an opponent yet?"
(Datak: "Not explicitly, as yet.")
Connor: "You could do more in New York for Defiance than you could ever do here, and for a lot of other towns just like it. I miss you, Mandy..."
Amanda: "Please don't do that."
Irisa: "Get off my dad's girlfriend. Uh, I mean, Nolan needs you."
Connor: "Nolan who?"
Amanda: "The Lawkeeper."
Connor: "Oh right. The best friend of the guy who recently blew me up. Nice folks you got here."
McClintock's fascinated by her skin -- those white hexagons -- as she examines him; without thinking about it, he runs his hand across her scalp. He's not scared at all, that's part of what fascinates him.
Yewll: "Easy, tiger. I'm too old for you."
McClintock: "That statement's going to be painfully ironic, in retrospect. Grace was 28 when I left, so she'd be 60 -- or dead -- now..."
Amanda: "Wait, that's the Gordon McClintock? The dead one?"
Nolan: "Apparently not so much. Makes you wonder how many people are still up there, in the Arks..."
Amanda: "I mean, Bravery was the Challenger of 2013. The Bravery Nine were heroes."
Nolan: "Seems to me they were prisoners of war. Like the whole thing was staged..."
(Connor: "As a high-ranking official in an unofficially human-first republic built from the wreckage of that war, I would find this all very interesting.")
