He brings her in close, but not like anything much other than a friend. I keep forgetting they broke up and now he's on about equal terms with both sisters. I like that best. I like that he's just like, "Lean on Jeb" and Amanda is at the front of the room going, "Thanks for hugging her while I'm too busy to do so."
The mother of the groom leads her son up the line, past the Casti on the right and the everything else on the left. Irisa enters, looking crazy, and sits next to Tommy without looking at him.
Irisa: "Feed the birds? Tuppence a bag?"
Tommy: "Holy shit, you look amazing!"
Irisa: "Actually I look like something from The Phantom Tollbooth crossed with the cover of Rhythm Of The Saints, but thanks for appreciating my Sukar-esque sense of fashion and style."
Tommy: "I don't see a million knives all over you."
Irisa: "Just this one strapped to my leg."
Tommy: "Did you just flash me some thigh at this wedding?"
Irisa: "Not really. Only on the way to holding your hand."
Stahma kneels, like all the women, with her man standing behind her. She kisses Alak's hand and holds it to her forehead; Datak can hardly hide his pride. That's when the human wedding march starts and the bride appears, on Rafe's arm.
Datak: "Why isn't she wearing the goddamned telo?"
Stahma: "I don't know! It's so weird. I wonder who made that veil for her, also? Because that looks like quality craftsmanship by a person who rules you in every possible way."
She carries a beautiful bouquet of strange flowers, like in the credits sequence: One variety is shaped like a bit like calla lilies or Nicky's oxygen mask she totes with her everywhere. (This is where the rush of visual segues really starts, that is either something that's been going on the entire episode or is only here now to pick up on Nolan's intuitive process, but either way is pretty amazing.)
Nolan: "I wonder where Nicky is? With her dumb oxygen tank she probably doesn't even need because of being an alien and having made-up relatives out of town and all."
Tommy: "That reminds me of how Liberata breathe nitrogen."
Nolan: "And how in the EMC we used oxygen bombs to kill Liberata and their fingers would turn blue just like Jered's."
(Okay, I know I just said I don't care to get flashbacks, but I would just love to see what the Liberata got up to during the Pale Wars. How on earth they were possibly asking to get oxygen-bombed and asphyxiated.)
