Cut to: Scott flying through the front window. Gabby, in the car, coos, "Now that's my guy!" Bleh.
At Vasectomy Villa, Tom comes in, and Lynette notices that he's not limping. It seems Tom couldn't go through with V Day. You see, his turn as Mr. Mom Tom has completely emasculated him, and he just can't spare his manhood. Lynette tries to reason with him: "Staying home and taking care of the kids doesn't make you less of a man, that's crazy!" Tom, very solemn now: "You expect me to calm your irrational fears? I expect you to calm mine." Lynette smiles, and then looks sad, and then smiles again as she asks, "Are you saying you're unhappy?" (Felicity Huffman is really good here; the abrupt downshift to sad/scared was very believable, and it totally brought a tear to my eye! Though I must confess, I also cried multiple times during Last Holiday.) Tom, near tears (ooh, Doug is killing in this scene, too): "A little bit, yeah." Lynette asks him what they're going to do, but Tom doesn't know. He heads upstairs, and Lynette tries to get him to sit down and talk some more. Tom: "No, Lynette? I don't know." Ohh, good scene! Except...it would have been even better if we had been given the barest hint of Tom's unhappiness before now. In the last episode, he was 100 percent joking, laughing guy. It's a little hard to swallow this out-of-the-blue depression. Though maybe the whole vasectomy thing unearthed some long-buried feelings? Okay!
Bree comes home from the grocery store, and when she puts her bag down on the counter, the clink of multiple bottles can be heard. Her message light is flashing: it's Detective Barton, he feels "awful about the other day." (So convenient!) To make it up to her, he checked into the Applewrong Affair and discovered that the name of the dead man found in front of their house was "Curtis Monroe," who was a PI from Chicago who had lost his license a few years back. Bree rewinds the message and listens to the "from Chicago" part again, but I'm not sure why: maybe she remembers that Betty's mother supposedly lives there? Mysterious!
