Flaming The Cabin

The British Invasion - In a show of solidarity with Dexter, Lila blows up the cabin with Doakes still inside. Dexter figures this out and tries to con Lila into her own death, but she gets wise and kidnaps Rita's kids. She then locks them in her apartment with Dexter and sets the whole thing ablaze, but everyone gets out unscathed. Dexter finds her in Paris and slams a knife into her chest. Also, Dex and Rita are fully back together, Lundy and Deb are going to try to make it work long-distance, and everyone is fully convinced that Doakes was indeed the Bay Harbor Butcher. Everyone but LaGuerta, of course.

To Burn Out Or Fade Away

Left Turn Ahead - Dexter's world is crumbling, and he lets Doakes talk him into turning himself in, so he starts making arrangements. Lila presses charges against Angel for the "rape," but Deb, after obtaining Lila's real identity, tries to run her out of town. Deb also comes to the rescue with Dex, convincing him to follow through with framing Doakes. That might be impossible, though, because Lila's used Dex's GPS to locate the cabin, and now it's anyone's game.

Dex 'n' Doakes 'n' Doakes 'n' Dex, Partez-Two?

There's Something About Harry - Doakes is still stuck in the cage. Dexter drugs him in a plan to murder him, but Doakes drops a little nugget about Harry that makes Dexter decide to frame him instead. Lundy makes Deb insecure about their relationship, and LaGuerta is grasping at straws to find a piece of evidence to prove that Doakes isn't the BHB. Rita and Dexter's relationship is on the mend, and Lila is so upset that she takes roofies and stages a date rape with Angel (unbeknownst to him, of course).

Man On The Run

Resistance Is Futile - As Jimenez's body continues to rot in the Everglades, Dexter's faced with the very real possibility that he's totally screwed, seeing as how his blood-slides are missing. Turns out that the Feds discovered them not in his AC unit, but in Doakes's car, making the Sergeant their prime suspect. All sorts of craziness ensues.

Blast From The Past

Morning Comes - The BHB investigation gets another major bump when Deb, Angel, and Lundy discover that the killer is definitely in their own camp. Dexter figures out that Lila started the fire herself, and becomes distant, which makes her freak out and call Jimenez, who tries to kill him at the bowling alley. Dexter makes a point of tracking his ass down and killing him, and gets a disturbed call from Rita that someone broke into her house. It was totally Lila, so Dex gives her the what-for.

Fanning The Flames

That Night, A Forest Grew - Dexter sets Doakes up for a fall, but the fallout may be more than he can handle. He also sends a rambling manifesto to the department to mess with the BHB investigation, but Lundy eventually catches on to its purpose. Rita finally kicks her mother out, and I wish I could say the same about Dexter with Lila. Unfortunately, he ends up getting only more entrenched in her nonsense. And by "nonsense," I'm of course referring to her genitals.

Dex, Lies, and Videotape - Doakes is back on Dexter's trail after finding out that his NA involvement may be a crock. Dexter finds a way to make the footage of him at the marina disappear. Lila comes to dinner and botches everything for Dexter with Rita, and then they do the humpty dance. Masuka is bugging Lundy, who opts for Dexter as his forensics guy, making Deb insecure, what with all her daddy issues. Oh, yeah. Dexter kills another guy, but only because he's imitating him...poorly.

The Dark Defender - Deb's inherent mistrust of her new boyfriend leads her to snoop around and almost kill the relationship. And Dex finds out that Harry might actually have been his real father. Yikes!

See-Through - Things with Dex's NA sponsor get weird, then okay again. Turns out Harry might have been kind of a jerk. Deb beds a boxer. Rita's mom is in town, and she's a sharp one. Doakes kills another guy. LaGuerta's the one Pascal's fiancé is cheating on her with. Dex finds a way to slow down the investigation into his misdeeds, or so he thinks. All this among a growing public support for the BHB.

Death Of A Salesman

An Inconvenient Lie - Dexter gives Narcotics Anonymous a try and eventually finds it's not so bad. Deb gets on Lundy's task force and hates it, but she eventually finds it's not so bad. Doakes finds out Dex is in NA, which somehow makes him feel like he's been too harsh on our main man. Dexter tracks down a murderous car salesman, buys a minivan from him, then stabs him in the hearty area.

Waiting To Exhale - The FBI's been called in to work on the "Bay Harbor Butcher" case, sending Agent Frank Lundy to head up the whole mess. Deb is still pretty tweaked about the ITK, and ends up pulling a gun on a kid. Luckily, the kid rats out the 29th Street Kings, and Dex uses the kid as bait to lure in the Beef Bus, whom he kills. Rita holds a funeral for Paul using his insurance money, and she thinks she's on to Dexter, but all she really gets from him is a confession to being a heroin addict.

It's Alive! - It's been just over a month since Dex killed his brother, and his conscience is preventing him from fulfilling his unsavory desires. Deb is living with Dex full-time, and is having trouble dealing what happened to her. Doakes is following Dex like a shadow. FIP gets killed in jail, making Rita suspicious. Also, some treasure hunters have discovered Dexter's ocean graveyard. All in all, not such a great time for our leading man.

Born Free - Finally, things come to a head between Dexter and the Ice Truck Killer, a.k.a. Rudy, a.k.a. Brian. A final revelation about Dexter's childhood makes him understand exactly what's been going on. Doakes is more suspicious of Dexter than ever, Angel cracks the case from his hospital bed, Pascal and LaGuerta realize they have more in common than they initially thought, and Rita finds Paul's shoe. Yeah, that's right.

Father Knows Best - Turns out Dexter had a biological father, who's now dead. As he picks apart the estate that was left to him, Doakes is questioned for a suspicious shooting while Angel rats him out, Deb continues to bug by being a self-centered jerk, and Dexter and his "playmate" meet face-to-face for the first time. Oh, and Rita totally slams Paul's face with a baseball bat. It's pretty sweet.

Return To Sender - Dex finds himself in a dilly of a pickle this time, as the Ice Truck Killer has decided to mess with him more than usual by diving for Valerie Castillo's body and putting it back in the trailer where Dexter killed her and her husband. LaGuerta gets a little too attached to the only eyeball witness; Deb enjoys dinner with Doakes and his surprisingly estro-heavy family; and Rita's soon-to-be-ex-husband Paul is out of jail, causing problems. Good times!

Love American Style - ...to kill a prick named Castillo, and his wife, Valerie. In one of the best episodes yet, Doakes and Deb make real progress on the Ice Truck Killer, Dexter and Rita have some relationship issues, Angel's home troubles continue, and Dexter's unique brand of justice is meted out to a couple of truly horrible people, but not before they're able to impart some much needed wisdom.
