MONDO EXTRAS
Dirtier Sexier...Money-er?
The helicopter from the opening scene comes in for a landing, and when it lands, Tripp disembarks. He and Nick wave as they approach each other, and when they meet, Tripp tells him that Karen called him and told him what was going on, and he got concerned. Nick neutrally agrees that there's a lot to be concerned about, a sentiment which Trip tries to pooh-pooh, but he does a double-take when he sees the wrecked plane in the hangar. Tripp, possibly genuinely but possibly trying to buy himself a moment here, hugs Nick, and then tells him that whatever he wants to do, they're all on his side, whether he's working for them or not. Nick somewhat wryly asks if that's his way of asking if he's still interested in working for them. Tripp cops to it, and then notices the briefcase and asks about it. Nick is forthcoming about where it came from, and Tripp's soft response of "Oh" could mean any of a hundred different things. Nick then says he has to go, and tells Tripp about the meeting with Genteel; Tripp realizes Nick is meeting Naomi, and the worry cuts through his laugh as he says she's real trouble. Nick then informs us that she claimed to originally have had a meeting set up with Dutch, so he's just keeping the appointment. [Given their familial histories, I'm thinking Elder was the substitute for the Naomi character, which makes me miss her A LOT. -- CB 2008] Tripp suggests Nick take the helicopter, as the traffic will be murder and he'll never make it, while he stays. "The police'll bring me back." I'm pretty sure they'll bring you somewhere -- it's just a question of whether handcuffs will be involved. Seriously, I think Tripp is pretending that he wants to stay with the plane out of respect for Dutch, but he really wants to check it out for anything incriminating. Nick regards Tripp with a face dark with suspicion, but eventually agrees, and also says he'll see Tripp in the morning, which I guess means he's going back to work for him. Which certainly seems like the easiest way to find out what really happened to his dad. Nick heads for the helicopter, and Tripp, his voice a little wistful, tells him he loves him. Nick gets in and takes off, and from on high, he sees Tripp having a word with the detective. I have the feeling she's just become the state's newest lottery winner.
