Novice Hame comes running out of Intensive Care, and immediately bumps into Matron Casp and Sister Jatt. "Matron! It's that man! And the girl!" Casp sends her back to her patients; Casp and Jatt walk into Intensive Care.
The Doctor wakes up inside one of the Intensive Care cells, and starts banging on the walls. "Aren't you lucky there was a spare? Standing room only!" says Cassandra. The Doctor yells at her through the glass about stealing Rose's body, and Cassandra smiles wickedly: "Over the years, I've thought of a thousand ways to kill you, Doctor -- and now, that's exactly what I've got. One thousand diseases." They dose the patients every ten minutes, and the Doctor's got about three left. "Enjoy!" The Doctor begs Cassandra just to let Rose go, and she promises that she will -- "as soon as I've found someone younger and less common" -- and hushes him. The cats approach. Jatt asks if they can help, and Cassandra cuts to the chase: "Whiskers, I want money." Casp shakes her head and says that is the opposite of how charities work, but Cassandra's not playing around. "The humans across the water pay you a fortune, and that's exactly what I need: a one-off payment...oh, and perhaps a yacht. In return for which, I shall tell the City nothing of your institutional murder. Is that a deal?" Jatt presses some buttons on a remote control, and Casp tells her no deal: "I'll tell them! And you've no way of stopping me! You're not exactly Nuns with Guns -- you're not even armed." Casp gets her claws out and hisses menacingly.
Cassandra calls out for Plan B; Chip pulls a lever, opening every cell down in the row. The Doctor steps out yelling at Cassandra -- "What have you done?" -- and she says that she gave the whole system a shot of adrenaline. He runs after her, screaming at the nurses and everyone not to touch the patients, even as they're walking out like zombies. They start talking crazy, all, "We understood what you did to us. As part of the machine, we know the machine...." And Casp -- backing away -- finds this fascinating from a logical perspective. The talking zombie promises to end the machine, and jams his hands into the electrical system. He fries, but all the doors in Intensive Care pop open, and the whole place floods with infected zombies of every description. Jatt prays: "By the Goddess Centauri -- the flesh is free!" The zombies stagger toward her, backing her against the wall, begging her to 'stop the pain,' and finally one of them touches her. She immediately bursts into crazy boils and starts screaming. The Doctor, Cassandra, and Chip pause for a second so the Doctor can yell at her some more: "One touch and you get every disease in the world, and I want that body safe, Cassandra! We've gotta go down!" He shouts at her, finally frightened as the zombies advance, to go down, deeper into the building. As they run down the stairs, Matron Casp picks up a phone and orders a quarantine before running for her own safe place.
