In the zeppelin, there's a panel on which TRANSMITTER CONTROLS is actually written, in large letters. How droll. Jake and Mickey stare at the transmitter controls, which are sealed behind the panel. "We'll crash the zeppelin," offers Jake. "We could set it to automatic and then just leg it! Let's have a look." The keyboard is locked as well. Jake starts looking for an override; Mickey shoves him aside: "Let me have a go. I'm good with computers, trust me." It's true, he's weirdly good with computers. Mickey taps as Jake watches; a tiny red light begins to flash and beep behind the cold dead cybersuit.
The Doctor is marched into the main control room of Battersea, talking into his Preacher comms about how he's been captured, but not to worry: "Rose and Pete are still out there, they can rescue me...Oh well, never mind," he says, on seeing Rose and Peter in the room, already captured. Whatever. The Doctor asks if Rose is okay, and she tells him about Jackie. "We were too late," says Pete. "Lumic killed her." The Doctor asks the whereabouts of Mr. Lumic: "Don't we get the chance to meet our Lord and Master?" The Cybermen inform him that Lumic's been upgraded, to a degree higher than the rank and file: "He is superior. The Lumic Unit has been designated Cyber Controller." Rose, Pete, and the Doctor all stare, as the sliding doors open and Lumic -- now a Cyberman with shining Xorn eyes -- rolls in on an elaborate chair, covered with wires and tubes: "This is The Age of Steel, and I am its Creator." He's so dumb you have to feel sorry for him. The Doctor is going to knock him into yesterday.
Above. Mickey, watched by an approving Jake, taps his way into the network or whatever. The Cyberman behind them flexes its fingers and then steps toward them. Jake yells, and Mickey admits that he did think it was dead: "But he's still a steel robot." Jake raises his gun and Mickey puts his hand on Jake's gun: "Wait a minute. Hey, Cyberman, over here." And the Cyberman turns in response. "Come on, you brainless lump of metal," says Mickey, getting excited, and it stomps toward them, raising a fist to strike. But Mickey has lured it to the transmitter controls, and its fist breaks the panel, and both the robot and the transmitter controls are destroyed in blue electricity. And everywhere, enlightenment, as the EarPods flash, deactivated. The residents of London wake up and realize where they are, and they are horrified, and then they run and scream and act like idiots. Up in the sky, Mickey throws his arms around Jake -- gleefully, I mean -- and run out of the factory, knocking Cybermen down and out of the way. After seeing these orderly lines and things, and the scary metal Cybermen in charge, that is funny.
