Queen Victoria opens the safe and pulls out the small wooden box Reynolds was being such a jerk about.
The Doctor, Rose, and Sir Robert hurry into a room; the Doctor locks the door behind them with his screwdriver. Sir Robert calls for Victoria, and she joins them. As the Doctor dashes off to check other exits, Sir Robert asks after Fr. Angelo's whereabouts, but she lies that Captain Reynolds killed him. Before they can go further on this line, the Doctor returns, apologizing to the Queen: "Your Majesty, you'll have to leg it out of a window." He gestures through a door, and Queen Victoria obliges with ultimate class, proceeding through into the next room. Sir Robert offers to precede her through the window, "the better to assist Her Majesty's egress." She approves, calling him her "Sir Walter Raleigh," even though RTD originally wanted Drake because he was into magic shit and strangeness and it's meet to at least mention him when you're doing a Victoria story with magic in it. Sir Robert climbs onto the sill but drops again when the monks outside open fire. "I reckon the monkey boys want us to stay inside," grits the Doctor, and Victoria's hilarious: "Do they know who I am?" Rose nods, explaining that they've got the Queen "lined up for a biting." Queen Victoria refuses to believe that the Wolf even really exists. Her answer is a howl, screaming through the house. Everybody runs around and whatever because it is Doctor Who, and for the same reason it is assured that by the end of the running about, they will end up in exactly the right room to solve the mystery.
The Doctor suggests that they run and, to Rose's protests, asks if she has any silver bullets on her; since she doesn't, he recommends, speaking as a Doctor, that Her Majesty take up vigorous jogging: "Good for the health. Come on!" He pulls her out of the room and up the stairs by the hand; elsewhere the Wolf breaks down another door and follows them. Just as it's about to get them all and eat them, Captain Reynolds appears and shoots the Wolf, who falls back. He tells them to keep moving, and worries that the Property is gone, but the Queen tells him that she already nabbed it. "Doctor, you stand as Her Majesty's Protector," says Reynolds, and then calls Sir Robert a traitor to the Crown. The Doctor tells him that bullets won't stop the Wolf, but Reynolds knows that: "They'll buy you time." Okay, maybe he's not a total dick. More running, more running...Into the library, of course, and just outside the door, Rose watches the werewolf eat Captain Reynolds. She is appalled! Not amused! The Doctor grabs her around the waist and pulls her inside just in time.
