...and inside, Echo nervously wonders if they'll have to fight, because she says she doesn't even know how to make a fist. Sam says he doesn't think it'll come to that, but in case it does, he might want to remember what color the third flower in the vase is. They near the lobby, beyond which Sam says is the entrance to the lab, and via a mirror, they see one guard on patrol. When he turns his back, Sam moves, having told Echo to do the same when the coast becomes clear, but before she can, someone grabs her shoulder from behind -- Laurence. When she turns, he hugs her and apologizes for trying to kill her. "I tried to burn you to death. Who does that?" Aw, that's kind of endearing, in a massively screwed-up way. It is nice to know he feels remorse for that on some level, though -- it makes him more interesting. Echo, of course, doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, and Sam sees what's going on and doubles back. He tells Echo that Laurence has obviously been exposed, so Echo tells him that the attempted murder is totally cool with her. Laurence, however, doesn't believe she really forgives him, and then babbles about the tough-guy image not being all there is to him and his awesome suit and such, and Echo and Sam do the classic "back away from the maniac slowly," not remotely appreciating the high comedy they're having the privilege of watching. In the lobby, they see that an imaginary dog is attacking the security guy, so they move on. Sierra then finds Laurence and starts to lead him away, but they run into the guy in the lobby, who shoots his gun into the air before Victor appears and gently disarms him. Victor then orders everyone with a firearm to turn it in...
...as Echo and Sam are making their way up the stairs to the second floor, on which the lab is located. Back in the lobby, Victor tells Sierra to sedate the lobby guard, but as she's walking over to him, she's suddenly hit with a wave of memories, just like Mellie was. Hers are of Hearn and his sexual abuse, which cause her to pick up the lobby guard's gun and point it at Victor. However, Victor is then besieged with upsetting memories of his own, and he acts out one of being a policeman and attempting to rescue a hysterical woman from what looks like a smoky building. Said acting out prompts him to put his arms around Sierra as he did with the woman, but this triggers an extremely disturbing memory we haven't seen before of Hearn on top of Sierra, who cries as she tells him, "It's not fun and games." My God, the horror. Victor's memory ends badly, too, as the woman pushes him away, and then there's an explosion that knocks him back, and if these are the kinds of things you remember when you have a composite event, it's no wonder Alpha went on a killing spree. Laurence, obliviously and hilariously, pets his suit, which he says is soft, "like a kitty." The man needs a girlfriend, I tell you what.
