Dramatic music plays as three black Yukon 2500s pull up on the Fremont campus, and the team spills out and gets to work. Victor, apparently the lead agent type, is giving some orders when Laurence and Sierra join him, and Laurence introduces the lab-coat-sporting Sierra as a doctor from the Center For Disease Control. He then tries to tell "Tom" what he'll be doing, but Victor flashes an NSA badge and tells Laurence that actually, he's the big dog here. Laurence hilariously breathes "Topher!" like he's the Newman of the piece, which...is actually not that far off, at least in terms of their comparable levels of sociopathy, but then agrees to be the "communications command post." Everyone moves to his or her respective assignments, leaving Laurence to cast an amusingly sour glance at Victor's back. I'd talk more about how funny Laurence is, but there will be plenty of time for that.

Ugh, there are many guys on this show I enjoy seeing shirtless, but that bondage doofus is not one of them. However, that's what I'm looking at, in more than one sense, as not only is he bare-chested, but his wrists are tied securely to the bed. In fairness, I find that a lot less objectionable than Echo being tied up, but I still could have lived with a later verbal description. Anyway, the guy's "new" fantasy is apparently to have his little bondage escapade filmed, like, how banal a project to pay Dollhouse prices for, but the scene turns when Echo has some technical problems and pushes a button on the TV that causes a news broadcast about Owen's death to pop up. Upon seeing the Rossum name, Echo has a quick black-and-white flash of caged animals in a lab and a man looking at a computer display of a brain map, much like we saw earlier, and just like that, with several declarations that she has to "help him," she's out of there. Bondage Guy thinks she's kidding, but then realizes, "That was the door." I stop laughing at him halfway into the opening credits.

In a flashback we're helpfully informed occurred "a few years ago," Caroline is in bed with a guy who, while very cute, looks several years her senior, even though Josh Cooke is only a year older than Eliza in real life. Also, since I brought up I Love You, Man earlier, I believe he's the actor that played the married dude who was sleeping with Paul Rudd's brother. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Anyway, the two of them are activists and very much in love, and that's all we need to know for the moment, it seems...
