Hiding in Plain Sight

Someone whose time is also running out is Laurence Dominic, who, as Whiskey informs Adelle, is going into shock and needs a hospital. Adelle replies that that's not possible, as her entire "support staff" is busy with the evacuation. Ballard sticks up for his fellow former government agent, pointing out that Laurence risked his life to get the message to them, but Adelle, after taking a close look at just how precisely Laurence looks like death warmed over, orders them to return him to the Attic, which is his best hope. Actually, is the Attic so bad without Clyde running around in pantyhose and killing people? Laurence seems to think so, as he tells "you bitch" that he'd rather die, but Adelle casually responds, "Well, I'd rather you didn't." I hate to agree with her given how she's acting, but here we are. Ballard, however, isn't convinced and offers to take him himself, but Echo, surprisingly, intervenes on Adelle's side, saying her assessment is right -- his best chance of recovery is in the Attic, and besides, they could use him on the inside when they hit the mainframe. Ballard says he doesn't know Echo anymore, and she flinches like someone just dropped an anvil on her toe before saying she knows. Adelle then asks Ballard if he recalls "Mellie," and points to the staircase, where the imprint in question is just now brightening and saying his name. Adelle explains that she felt it was best for her to be someone who trusts him entirely, and I wonder if she knows about the rough sex or if she's just guessing. She adds, "We shan't have time for any...Senate subcommittees," and she may have sent poor Laurence back to the Attic but she is on fire with the lines tonight. On the other hand, if they're leaving the Dollhouse permanently, will they ever be able to restore her to being Madeline? I mean, I kind of hated her, so it's not like I care, but it still seems worth asking. Anyway, Mellie is just so happy to see Ballard, and also Caroline, whom she informs that Ballard never gave up trying to find, and this is boring...
