In front of the church or whatever, Margaret is telling Addy that she apparently died of a massive heart attack, but she was perfectly healthy, so it makes much more sense that someone was after her ridiculous amounts of money, and her suspicion that something like this might eventually happen is in fact why she had the personality scan done in the first place. As the old saying goes, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. They take seats in the back as Margaret approvingly notes the turnout, although to be honest the place looks pretty small to me, and then she tells Addy how she planned the whole thing out -- she started mentioning a "Julia" to her family before she started doing the scans, which is the name by which she's now going, and even wrote the ersatz person into her will and instructed the family to expect her. It's too bad this woman was too rich ever to need a job of work, because I'm thinking she could have had a great career planning murder mysteries. Addy asks if she's a spy, then, and Margaret playfully answers, "No, no. A ghost!" You'd think this would trigger terrified talk about how you can't fight a ghost, but surprisingly, there's no indication of Echo's personality surfacing this episode. Could be that having a whole person in her instead of one cobbled together from parts makes awakening her less likely, or that eliminating Laurence put her at rest for the moment, but the fact that Echo's developing personality is never even mentioned (or seen, for that matter) after she literally saved the Dollhouse last time feels like a dropped plotline to me, and makes me think this A-plot would have played better earlier in the season.

The service starts, and in more hushed tones, Margaret points out her two children to Addy: "Jocelyn," who looks like a younger Sheryl Lee, and "Nicolas," who...ha, it's Oliver from Dawson's Creek, or "Pander" to those of us who read the recaps! Wow, he's kind of... aged well. Good on you, Jordan Bridges. Anyway, Addy's a little bummed out to see Margaret's kids in mourning, but Margaret sort of breezes by that sentiment and admonishes her, "Do let's focus." That sentence suggests to me that Margaret might originally have been written as British, which would have made sense if she and Adelle are such old mates, and if that's the case, the only reason I can think of that having been changed is that Eliza tried to do a British accent and no one on set could stop laughing, so they dropped the idea. I mean, considering Joss Whedon gave us Sarah Michelle Gellar's "English" accent and David Boreanaz's "Irish" one, I don't know how much worse Eliza could have done by comparison, but what can I say, I don't make these decisions. Margaret is then surprised to see that her brother "William" came, and Addy immediately notices he's "stupefyingly drunk," which isn't so much a testament to her keen powers of observation as it is to the fact that William is relying on the wall to hold him up, and also has a nose the likes of which hasn't been seen since W.C. Fields shuffled off this mortal coil. After Margaret proclaims everyone in the room a suspect, Jack makes his appearance, and when Addy sees how young he is, her eyes bug out in a hilariously non-British way. Margaret acknowledges that by way of saying when she married him, she stopped being such a regular customer at the Dollhouse, and I wonder if she was the original "Miss Lonelyhearts" before Adelle appropriated the nickname for her own use. Anyway, we've learned all we're going to here...
