An ashen Ballard comes out of the chair as Topher warns Ivy and Boyd that Ballard isn't going to take this well, like, thanks for the info but we have met the man. Ballard then spazzes out for a bit like the Frankenstein monster, speaking about as intelligibly, and Ivy explains to Boyd that his brain is completely reorganized, and it's going to take him a moment to adjust to the new structure. Ballard slumps against the wall, so Topher kneels down and tries touching him gingerly, but Ballard grabs and tries to attack him until Boyd pulls him away, at which point Ballard is finally able to form words coherently enough to ask what the hell Topher did to him. Boyd tells him he was in a coma, and even with his brain's new org chart it doesn't take Ballard long to figure it out: "You made me a Doll?" Topher says it was the only way to save him, so Ballard asks why, then, he feels like himself. Topher tells him he is, but his personality is now an imprint. He apologizes, saying it was an order, and Boyd adds that they need him, especially with Echo, Victor, and Sierra gone to the Attic. When Ballard hears this, he grabs Boyd's gun straight out of his waistband, which seems a little familiar even for the buddiest of cops, no? Ivy tries to get him to wait, but nothing doing, and when he's gone, Boyd notes that at some point, he's going to figure out what they took away from him. Ivy looks down guiltily, while Topher gives a quiet "I know." What did they take? His secrets for keeping those abs in shape? His ability to be funny without meaning to? His heterosexuality? (One of those I could live without.)
