Twists And Turns!

Cut to Victor and Sierra rolling around in bed, and it's like the show just realized it should be depriving Enver Gjokaj of his shirt on a regular basis. It's not a complaint, but you wonder what took so long. Anyway, you also at first wonder what's so awful about this, but some blood drips down onto Sierra's face, distracting her, and when she looks back Victor has changed into Dead Nolan. She shrieks and pitches him off, but after a moment, he twitches and slowly arises...

...while Victor is having a total sped-up acid flashback to his wartime service, like, I'm not guessing Arcane is going to have to do a lot of embellishment here. Victor gives an order to attack, and then we cut to him in a desert building fighting an insurgent who looks like himself with a worse haircut. (Actually, it's Enver Gjokaj's identical twin Demir, who apparently made his acting debut in this episode.) [If you have a twin, Joss Whedon has a job for that twin! - Z] Their battle is unresolved...

...when we cut back to the House of Scary Sashimi. The Japanese guy is telling Echo that he analyzed Rossum's mainframe and found it fallible and vulnerable, and this information unfortunately made him dangerous to them, so they shipped him to this location. "But it's better than being in the Attic." Given that all he seems to be doing is eating delicious Japanese food, it's hard to blame the guy for being slow on the uptake here, but there's a Priya scream from outside, prompting Echo to say they have to go. The guy, however, repeats that he can't go until he's done, and his unflagging insistence is getting creepy, so Echo leaves him there... only to run into the kitchen and discover that the sushi meat is actually being made from humans, like, that is one cuisine I didn't need ruined for me, Show. Laurence then finally catches up to Echo, and she tells him she's figured out, thanks to the guy in the restaurant having told her he was in Tokyo, that all the minds of all the people in all the Attics are connected. Laurence also tells Echo that Arcane is there, which is proven true when we see him slit the Japanese guy's throat with a samurai sword. Echo and Laurence rush back in and find the guy, now sporting a gaping neck wound, wearing a hilariously disappointed face: "Now the meat won't be fresh." This dude would have made a good Doll in his younger days. Seeming all-too-fearful of the answer, Echo asks what happens when Arcane kills someone, and Laurence confirms that it's bad as he says their world inside the Attic disappears. As the guy's corpse slumps forward and the lights fade, Laurence sighs fearfully that his brain is shutting down, and Echo notes, "And we're trapped in it." Better, show, much better.
