Changing The Game

Near the safe house, Ballard is sitting in his car not at all conspicuously. After we see a shot of the many security cameras attached to the place, he calls Boyd and tells him he's got "eyes" he needs him to take out. After a couple of keystrokes, Boyd gives him the all-clear, and if it was that easy I think he would have been better placed handling Echo, no? Ballard heads for a side door...

...as, in the car, Perrin is trying to explain the Doll concept to Echo, whose acting goes down the toilet as she asks him when they get naked again. Also, she's filming this bit, which could conceivably be important at some point, but other than that, the scene takes far too long to let us know, again, that Perrin believes wholeheartedly that he needs to take Rossum down. Next!

Madeline's being sad, which is just so interesting to watch, when Ballard appears. She tries to cry out, but he claps a hand over her mouth and tells her she's being tricked. She nods like she believes him, but when he lets her go, she bolts, which is kind of hilarious. When he catches her again, he tries to tell her he's on her side, but she doesn't believe him, and then Cindy appears and tells him to get away from her. He pulls out the disruptor...

...as Perrin and Echo are just pulling into the driveway...

...and then Ballard grimly punches the disruptor's activator. Madeline cries out in pain...

...as, in the driveway, does Echo...

...but after Ballard helps Madeline to the ground, he turns and is stunned to see Cindy standing tall before him. He goes for his gun, but two henchgoons appear and tackle him from behind. Cindy takes the disruptor and conversationally notes that it's new to her. She deactivates it...

...and in the driveway, Echo, probably less affected than Madeline because of the greater distance between her and the device, recovers and wipes the blood from her nose, and then we cut over to Perrin...WHOSE NOSE IS ALSO BLOODY. He grunts, "What the hell was that?" An impressively-executed twist, I'd say.
