AKA Driver

Corinna steps out of the police station. As she walks around the building and starts down a little alleyway like a moron, a suited man in dark glasses follows her. The man isn't Brian Bloom, which makes me sad. A sedan pulls in at the end of the alley, and another mysterious man gets out. Just as Corinna is looking a bit tense, there's a roar, and the Challenger whirls around the corner and screeches to a stop next to her. She hops in, and Alex tells her to buckle up. Safety first!

Sean pulls the Impala onto a shoulder behind Dupree's Mustang. Dupree complains that she's never had to "throw one back" before. She uncuffs Winston and warns him, "I'm not the only one out there looking for you." Exit Dupree. Sean tells Winston to thank him later, and then he hurries back to the Impala, asking if he can drive. Winston snaps, "Keys. Or I'll take 'em from you." Keep waiting for those thanks, Sean. They get in, and silently drive away.

Godcam zooms up from the Impala's location, then further back on the highway to the Challenger. Corinna asks what they did to him. Alex says, "They didn't do it to me. They did it to some other guy." Oh, neat, he's had a psychotic break! I love those. He says this is that guy's car. Then he says "Hang on" and goes tearing through traffic as "Leave You Far Behind" plays. There's a bit of FX to show the car whipping past others, and it looks a little off to me, possibly because the camera angle doesn't change enough. D thought it was cool, though, so I guess we're splitting our votes on that one. The Challenger passes the Impala, the Taurus, and the Caravan, and it finally closes in on the Firebird. Ellie and Rob look profoundly vexed as the Challenger cuts in front of them and zooms away. Alex allows himself an evil smirk.

So, "After Sunset" is a drive-in. The racers turn in their tickets and motor in to park. The Trimbles end up parking next to the Salazars. Winston gives them a little nod. Then Bright's voice comes over the loundspeaker, welcoming and congratulating them. He says, "We know you have questions. For answers, look to the screen before you. Pay close attention -- this is something you won't wanna miss." Everyone stares expectantly as a countdown leader appears on the screen. Then they start honking and booing the projectionist. Well, they don't, but they should. The camera focuses on the screen, and after "2," we see...the closing credits. Heh.
