Jennifer says that Jason has found his niche and she loves how he's grown. John thinks that he doesn't think this was Jason's song, and it wasn't as good as last week. I agree. Jason wants to be a crooner but he did much better when he was a rocker. Robin says he wants to see a little more naughtiness, a little sexiness. Wow, Robin actually paid attention and talked about someone other than himself.
John is the last to sing his duet. He and Jennifer are doing a song called "The Prayer" which was originally done by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Of course they are. Jennifer finally took that hat off and her hair looks awful so now I get why she was wearing the hat. Don't they have hair and makeup people on this show? John is a little flat on a phrase or two in the beginning and his voice actually breaks at one point. Oops. I mean, I hate everything about the way these two choose to be as performers so I'm not going to like this no matter what.
John Legend thought it sounded beautiful. Robin claims that John is never out of tune, but he was a little tonight. Kelly didn't notice the off-key part and she thinks John's voice is a blessing. Blech. No thank you.
J Rome is the first to sing solo, and as previously mentioned, he'll be singing Stevie Wonder's "Signed Sealed Delivered." His voice sounds so good that I actually considered for a minute if he was lip-syncing. I'm not crazy about his movements. He's a little corny. He needs to work on that. I mean he's not John levels of corny, but still. It's a great, fun song but I don't know that it shows off his vocals. Everyone in the audience seemed to love it, though.
No judges' comments for this round, I guess. John will be singing "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts. I am not a huge country fan but once in a while a super corny one just gets me, and this is one of them. God, John has such a bad case of gay face. I can't believe he's married to a lady. Also, he needs to cut back on the bronzer because you can see the makeup line at his hairline and his natural skin color is normal, so I don't know why he's made up to be so tan. John is a little flat on the last note, too. What is with him tonight? Anyway, I love that song. I didn't love that performance.
Jason is singing "Runaway Baby" by Bruno Mars. Jason still needs to learn to articulate his words better. And this is a fun, fast song and he's strolling around like it's a ballad. He still seems really self-conscious on stage too. He sounds pretty good though, even when he's running around the stage. His moves looks studied like someone told him, "Lift your arm here and then the other arm," and he's doing it by rote instead of what J Rome does, which is to just dance and listen to the music.
