Robin has only Olivia left, and they'll be singing "Let's Stay Together." Y'all. This is my song with my husband. It was our first dance at our wedding. These two had better now screw it up. In rehearsals, Robin brings his cute kid for sympathy points, and also tries to get Olivia to really feel the words.
I just noticed that Robin has a gold microphone when everyone else just uses the standard black. What a dick. Also, he's wearing a pinky ring. A PINKY RING! WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS? Olivia does a much better job than last week of singing the right notes, and she's selling it better, but she's still really boring to watch. I mean, I'm checking out Robin's pinky ring for Christ's sake. I don't WANT to. There's just nothing else to look at. Her voice is just there. She does sing the last line in a really pretty way. That was the only part of the song I liked.
John says that Olivia sounds smooth but he thinks her voice needs a little more strength. Kelly is amazed by her breath control but advises her to feel more confidence, because hesitancy can create pitchiness. Jennifer says some nonsense that sort of sounds like she enjoyed this performance and sort of sounds like she liked it better last week. Anyway, Olivia's on the bottom so Bridget and J Rome are definitely safe.
Kelly has to get Jordan to continue that fun attitude that she had last week. She makes Jordan watch herself, and Jordan realizes that she pushed herself like it was "do or die." They're singing "I Love Rock and Roll." Ugh. Terrible song choice.
So how does Jordan deal with this song? I mean, it's a fine song but it's really, really, really boring to sing so they'd better do something to make it stand out. And... they really don't. Also, Jordan is wearing crazy high heels and she can't really move well in them. She did a lot better last week when she was barefoot. Kelly is flirting with the guitar player and rocking out and Jordan is just singing. I am disappointed.
Jennifer says that she could sense a little discomfort at times, although she was impressed by the vocal performance. Even Jennifer mentions the shoes as being the source of the problem. You see? Robin also doesn't feel like it lived up to last week's performance. John thinks she should sing barefoot every time because she was more relaxed last week, and he wanted the chorus is unison instead of in harmony. Kelly points out that they yelled at them when they did that on "Stronger." True, but that was the first week and they wanted to hear Jordan's voice. Now they know she can sing, so I feel like it would be more acceptable. Jordan's score puts her third from the bottom, so she's safe.
