They are on stage together singing, "Ordinary People," one of John Legend's big hits. And Johnny is a-sweating right away. The lighting isn't helping. You can see every bead of sweat on his head, and there are many. His voice sounds good, but so similar to John Legend's, yet not quite as good. He should have picked someone with a much different sound, I think. Also, Johnny doesn't know what to do when he's not singing, and he has the amateur's habit of rising up on his tiptoes when he tries to hit a high note. My voice teacher drilled that out of me on like day one. Would someone get Johnny a towel? This is like Albert Brooks in Broadcast News. Also, they don't sing together all that much - they mostly trade lines, which is not nearly as hard. Hmm.
Quddus mops up Johnny's face for him. Thank you! Robin makes it all about himself, of course, and then says he's amazed and impressed. Kelly thinks Johnny is happy and vulnerable on stage. Jennifer says that she loved it and loves the low end of his voice. So where does he rank compared to J Rome? Johnny is in second place.
Quddus announces that no one will be eliminated tonight, so we'll have to wait until next week to dump someone.
Ugh, now we have to watch Robin Thicke, who doesn't take his sunglasses off inside because of course he doesn't. It's weird to hear him talk because he sounds so much like his dad, I keep expecting him to start yelling at Carol or something. Robin auditions a dude named Dante first, and works with him on his timing, because Dante tends to rush it. He also auditions a lady named Olivia, who I think sounds great. So she probably won't get chosen because I've been wrong at every turn. And then he does pick Olivia! I hate agreeing with Robin Thicke, especially because then he talks about how it wasn't easy for him. Yeah, who cares about that poor amateur. It was hard for the millionaire.
They are on stage to sing "Lost Without You." Whoa, they have great chemistry. When they're singing to one another, it feels like they might start doing it right there. And she has a great voice, and it blends with his really well. I have no critiques of this; it was the best of the night so far.
