Kelly is looking for her final partner. She auditions a bunch of people, but narrows it down to Ashley and Jordan. She auditions them solo and then brings them each in to sing a duet with her to check the blend. She picks Jordan, who is younger and seems more raw, but had a great tone. She's also a Kelly fangirl and might have had a nervous breakdown if she didn't get chosen.
Kelly and Jordan are singing "Stronger" and I effing love this song. Jordan also needs a makeover. I don't have a problem with the pink hair, but her eyebrows are not good. They sing the chorus in unison and I'm covered in goosebumps, and not to sound like an American Idol judge, but that's my barometer. That only happens when someone nails it. Also, even though they're in unison, it doesn't seem like Kelly's carrying her. You can hear Jordan. They have similar voices but they blend well. Jordan has a few off notes, though. She sings the chorus while Kelly riffs a little bit and that doesn't work as well as when they're in unison. I wonder if she needs Kelly singing along to help her. Anyway. It was good.
John says that Kelly did a great job finding someone that blended well. Jennifer agrees that at times, she couldn't tell who was singing lead and who was singing harmony, and Kelly's an amazing singer so that's a huge compliment. Robin likes her hair and smile and voice.
They're taking a break before the final reveal, so let's think about where Jordan might fall. I don't think she'll be at the top, but maybe three or four? And I'm totally wrong because she ends up at seven. I guess they thought she sounded too much like Kelly? I really need their critiques to be more pointed so that I can understand why one person ranks higher than another. Kelly is shocked that Jordan is so low, and points out that her two partners are in the bottom two. Yikes.
Next week will be classic duets from music history, and I guess someone will be eliminated? Do they just lop off the person in last place or is there some sort of elimination duel? We'll find out next week, I guess.
