Kelly loved that they did an uptempo number although she tries to find a nice way to say that it was corny, and settles for hokey. Robin thought it was the wrong song for John, and his movements got a little awkward. John thought his vocals were great but the moves made it feel a little Broadway. Is that a coded way of saying "gay cabaret"? Because I agree. All of the superstars emphasize that John has a great voice and will go far in the competition. And John ends up in second place. BOOOOOOOO!
Robin is singing with Olivia Chisholm first, and he's chosen "Where's the Love?" by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack. She's worried because she's not familiar with the song. Robin explains that he chose it because they have good chemistry, and also because when they're play fighting, his wife sings it to him. Gross. As they rehearse, Olivia doesn't know the lyrics yet and Robin is annoyed. When they finally perform, there's something really wrong. I don't know if it's because she doesn't know the song well enough, but their harmonies sound off, and there's no chemistry between them at all. Robin sounds pitchy at parts, even. They keep cutting to Jennifer looking puzzled, watching. I am making the same face on my couch at home. I mean, seriously, there's not much to this song other than "Where is the love?" and Olivia keeps getting that part wrong. And then during the keyboard solo Robin keeps riffing, like it's not about you, dude. The whole thing is pretty awful.
