MONDO EXTRAS
Subvulcanean Homesick Blues
Finally he arrives at Sick Bay, and Bones tells him he's all ready for him. "My orders were to report to Sick Bay, Doctor. I have done so and now I'll go to my quarters," Spock says. Bones growls that his orders were to examine Spock, and as they both report to the Captain, Spock had better get his bony Vulcan butt onto the table. "Come on, Spock," Bones says, making his voice more gentle. "Yield to the logic of the situation." Spock gives in, gets on the table, and says, "Very well, Doctor. Examine me, for all the good it will do either of us." A male nurse flips the examining table up, and Spock drums his fingers on the side of it. He's fidgeting. That's a mighty illogical thing to do. In case you were wondering.
Bridge. There's little Statler and Waldorfing going on as Sulu says to Chekov, "How do you figure it, Chekov? First we're going to Vulcan, then we're going to Altair, then we're headed to Vulcan again, and now we're headed back to Altair!" No, Mr. Helmsman, first you were on your way to Altair, then Vulcan, et cetera. "I theenk I'm going to get space seek," Chekov says. So am I. Mathra guffaws along with them, saying, "I think you're headed to the cutting room floor when this thing goes into syndication!" Did I mention I'm recapping the uncut version of this? No? Well, I am.
Bones dashes into Kirk's room and tells him that if they don't get Spock to Vulcan inside of eight days, he'll die! Camera zooms shakily in for Melodrama-Cam. "He'll die, Jim!" Bones repeats.
