Neela presents her charts to Luka. They get to Back Pain Guy, who is now fully wearing a superhero outfit, complete with cape. Carter runs over and asks if Gallant is really there. He gossips with Lily about Gallant's whereabouts, as Neela tries to continue discussing Back Pain Guy with Luka. Carter totally interrupts to ask where Gallant's parents live, and Neela confirms that they live in Texas, and tries to pretend as if she doesn't care that he totally bailed on her.
Neela heads to the Roach Coach, and the vendor teases her because she orders the same thing every day, like, shut up, Roach Coach Vendor. Maybe she just knows what she likes and doesn't want to chance it on your dodgy doughnuts. "Dodgy Doughnuts" is the title of my first single. Neela glances around as she waits for her order to be filled, and spies Gallant walking toward her. The sappy music starts up and she runs to him. They share a giant hug, and she breaks into a grin.
Neela and Gallant sit in a bar and talk. She says that she didn't know he was coming, and Gallant says that it was last-minute. Neela asks why he didn't call. Gallant says that he had to do something. Neela is silent, and Gallant adds, "But I couldn't leave without seeing you." Neela says that everyone is sad that he didn't come by the hospital. Gallant sighs that it feels weird being back in the world, and that he didn't want to have to answer a lot of questions. Neela asks how long he can stay, and Gallant says that he flies out the next morning. Neela's phone rings. It's Frank, and Neela says that she left her orders on the chart, and that she's at lunch. She hangs up and notices a scar on Gallant's forehead. He says it's nothing. Neela's pager goes off, and she sighs and checks it. Gallant admits that he went to see his buddy's family this morning, and that the buddy died, and that he was delivering something to the dead guy's daughter. Neela says that she's sorry. Gallant says tearfully that his buddy's wife saw two officers walking to her door, and she begged them to leave, because they must have the wrong house. Neela tears up herself, and puts her hands on Gallant's.
