OR. A nurse is holding up a cup of orange juice, the straw disappearing behind Elizabeth's mask as she sips. Elizabeth makes an "okay" noise, and the nurse takes off. Romano tells Elizabeth she should go take a nap, but she replies that she's got her second wind. Romano says it's about time, and she says she's happy to close. Romano doesn't need any more convincing, and takes off. Shirley tells Elizabeth that Mark called again, and that he wants her to call him when she's done. Romano says, "Oh, how sweet. You are one lucky lady." Elizabeth ignores him. Romano leaves. Elizabeth doffs her gown, sits down, gives Shirley some post-op orders, and promises to meet her in Recovery. Shirley says that Eddie's brother's in the waiting room, and asks Elizabeth if she can talk to him. After a moment, Elizabeth agrees. Shirley hands her the chart and leaves. Elizabeth, left alone, leans forward and rests her head on her hand, sighing heavily. Okay, at least in this episode, as opposed to the last one, I could see what her motivation was: she had something specific to prove, and she proved it. Much better writing, and much less annoyingly realized, than Elizabeth's had almost this whole stupid season.
