Jack and Jo return to Café Diem, where Vincent is angry at Jack for firing his only waitress, whose job it would have been to clean up all the mustard Jack put on the counter. Jack and Jo ignore him and look around for clues. Since this show is only an hour long, Jo finds one immediately: Larry's book. She notes that the hole Martha shot through it is all melted. Paper doesn't melt, so she wonders if there was another substance in the book that does. Sure enough, Jack opens the book to find a remote control hidden inside it. "Never judge a book by its cover," he repeats.
Over at GD, Eva orders Zane to take Martha apart so they can find out what made her go on the attack. "A shock and awe-topsy!" Zane "quips." "You don't do an autopsy on a machine," Eva says, disgusted. Hee hee. Zane tries to counter that by saying Martha seems more human than a lot of actual humans. If he's talking about Eva, she doesn't realize it or doesn't care, as she just tells Zane to get cracking. He goes off to get some tools and Eva walks away, leaving Martha completely unattended. Guess what? Like a surly teenager who doesn't want to go to school, Martha was totally faking sick.
