A nervous Lucas says he'll give a voice to the pre-teen prodigy that "the establishment" sees as "just another pretty brain." Zoe approves of this message.

As for Herrera, he's all about change, just like every other politician these days. And his promises ring just as hollow as theirs. Just as he promises to usher in a "new day" for Eureka, there's a flash of light outside. In this town (or any town, really, come to think of it), that's never a good sign. Carter, Jo, and Allison lead the overreacting extras out onto the street, where they see a small glowing orb lighting up the night sky, so much so that night has become day.

And, eight minutes into the show, we finally get the opening credits. One of these days, they aren't going to show up until we're a half hour in.

Zane, who has already had too much camera time this episode/season, shows up with Allison outside Café Diem to tell Carter and Jo that lab tests on the orb have concluded that Eureka has its very own mini-sun. Aw, that's so cute. Allison says they've ruled out any GD experiments as the cause, as if they ever know what their crazy isolated scientists are even working on at any given moment, and Zane smiles that they now have two suns, just like Tatooine. For some reason, Carter has no idea what Zane is talking about. I don't like Star Wars and even I know what Tatooine is. I just hope Eureka's Tatooine doesn't come with its own singing Bea Arthur barmaid, like the Star Wars Holiday Special Tatooine did. Zane concludes that the mini-sun seems stable and is only a thousand feet in the air, so no one outside of Eureka should be able to see it. Carter just wants to know how to turn the thing off, since it's ninety degrees outside and it's only six in the morning. Six in the morning? What are all these weirdo Eureka residents doing on the street so early? Have they been up all night because they can't sleep when it's light outside? What a bunch of babies. Zane isn't sure how to stop it yet, but says it appears to be the result of a deliberate fusion reaction. Carter's first suspect is Herrera, given the timing of the mini-sun's appearance and his love of skyvertising.

At the mention of Herrera, Allison says Eva wanted her to give him her official endorsement. This gives Carter a chance to mutter about Eva's "hidden agenda" while Jo stands next to him and makes a series of funny faces because that's all she really gets to do these days. Carter says he found proof that Eva was down in the bunker yesterday and asks Allison what's down there for her to find. Allison says there won't be much of anything soon, since Eva's ordered the thermal cleaning and has forbidden anyone to go down there until it's done. She tells Carter and Jo to go check out Herrera while she "looks into" Eva's bunker fascination. They go as Allison gets a call from someone and says she's on her way.
