How I Could Just Kill A Dimension

After the break, Johnson is not impressed with Carter and Tess's plan to get out of the fifth dimension, saying they could have set off a P-brane wave that grew to "dangerous proportions." Eh, what do they care? They're safely ensconced in the fifth dimension. Also, what is it about Johnson's English accent that I find so displeasing? Is it fake or something? It just sounds off. Tess rightly points out that if Johnson didn't have the re-entry pad finished, he never should have used the entry pad. Johnson says he was in a hurry to do it before his new lady boss from SETI arrived in town. Well then, he could have at least packed a lunch for the trip. There's really no excuse for that.

With that, an elevator arrives and the three have no choice but to get in while the getting's good. Fortunately, none of the third dimension occupants of the elevator lean against the wall, but stand right up at the doors like no one who has ever ridden an elevator in real life. This gives Johnson, Carter, and Tess plenty of room in the back to lean against the wall and chat. Johnson says they need to go back to his lab so he can continue his work on the re-entry pad, but since none of them have the ability to push the button on the elevator to take them there, they'll just have to wait. Which kind of begs the following questions: 1. How did Johnson know they were even on the first floor in Drechmeyer's lab in the first place, let alone happen to find someone going from S5 to the first floor just in time to stop them? And 2. How come Johnson's hand goes through the wall of the elevator but they don't sink through the floor?
