Tess chases Carter through GD, accusing him of running away from her and their problems. Carter just complains about his watch being broken, because that will be important later. He denies avoiding Tess, saying he's just trying to get his work done to see Zoe's dive. Why, though? It's not like she has anything to do with it. Pilar designed the sensors and Pilar is controlling all of Zoe's movements. Tess says she heard about Zoe's early admission, because that's the kind of rumor that would spread like wildfire around GD. She asks Carter how he's doing with it, presenting him with a dilemma: discuss his feelings about his daughter abandoning him or about Tess abandoning him? He goes for the latter. "You started something when you knew you were going away," he says. Except that Carter started this by asking Tess out in the first place and that was several weeks before the job offer. And he's known all along that Tess was only here on a temporary basis. So he doesn't have any right to be mad at her. Tess says she might not be going away -- after all, she has yet to accept the offer. Carter snaps that that doesn't matter and he's having a rough day, so he'd appreciate it if Tess could just tell him what she wants. She asks him to do the same. "Whatever makes you happy," he says.

They both head into Zane's workspace and ask him what's going on. He talks about how the power surge could have produced negative charges or even an "itty bitty black hole." Even an "itty bitty" black hole is a big problem. Like, a world-ending problem. But no matter, as Zane says that none of those things happened because the stabilizer froze up and the supercollider broke down before any atoms were smashed. Tess gives Carter an "I told you so" as Henry wanders in to tell them that Fargo is severely anemic and has had to take iron supplements his whole life. When a sudden burst of electromagnetic energy struck the lab, Fargo "got caught up in it" along with along with all the other metal stuff in the room. Except that I saw plenty of metal stuff in the room that wasn't on the ceiling and if the magnet is so strong that it can attract an amount of iron that small, then why wasn't any of the metal on Carter's belt (like his gun) attracted to the ceiling, too? This is ridiculous. Carter notes that his watch broke at the same time as the supercollider broke down. He wonders if the same thing that broke his watch also broke the supercollider's stabilizer. I'm not really sure how what Henry said caused him to come up with the idea, but whatever. It prompts Tess and Zane to agree that an electromagnetic energy field could freeze the gears of Carter's watch as well as the stabilizer. But it wouldn't affect anything else? I mean, Fargo was in the same room as Carter's watch -- why didn't he get stuck to the ceiling, then as well?
