Hannah and Topher have just finished dinner in downtown Everwood. They stand on the sidewalk chatting, and Topher gives her another awful kiss. Hannah can't take it anymore: "Out of curiosity, how would you rate that kiss? I know I could have tilted my head more to the left...I'd give my performance on that kiss a 2 -- 3 tops." Topher tells her she's crazy. Hannah says they should be honest with each other, because if they aren't, how can they ever improve? Topher: "How can you improve on perfection?" Oh, Topher. You're so gone. Hannah tells her soon-to-be ex that she doesn't think they've reached perfection with anything. Topher is astounded. He doesn't see how things could get better, and when they kiss? Time stops. Hannah gently tells Topher that she doesn't feel the same way as he does. "I thought we were on the same page, but now I'm thinking maybe we're not." Topher asks where she is. Hannah says she's maybe on chapter one, and she's definitely read the foreword, but she's pretty sure she won't finish the whole book. She tells Topher she's so sorry. Topher looks very sad, and asks if they can go to the car now. See ya, Topher.
