Back at the Abbotts', Patch stops Amy on her way out the door. Amy says whatever he wants can wait; she's on summer hours. Patch orders her to fill out the housing application he's holding, if she doesn't want her first dorm to be her car. Amy asks her dad not to be upset, but... Patch won't hear it. "NO." Amy says she is only talking about deferring, just for a year. Patch says it's out of the question. Amy wants him to think about it: Rose is still going to need help, and it's not fair to ask Bright to wait another year. Patch tells her she's right, and he would never ask either of his children to do something he could do perfectly well on his own. "Children are the responsibility of the parents, not the other way around." Amy says she'll remember that when he's ninety. Hee. Patch says he wants the application on his desk, completed, by the next morning. Amy's like, "God, FINE." Patch is happy again, and resumes his paperwork.
Brown House. Treat wanders around his house, which is impeccably clean, and by the way, Berlanti needs to send MY ass a maid, I mean really, is that too much to ask after three seasons? He opens Ephram's door and looks around the empty room, then heads over to Delia's to see if she's got a minute. She does, but not before she tells him how cool her new crush is. "Ethan thinks I should bring bug spray with me to camp. He also thinks I should bring twenty packs of gum. He says gum at camp is like cigarettes in prison. Isn't he funny?" Treat: "Hilarious." Just wait, because it won't be too hilarious when Ethan's trying to get to second base with your baby, now will it? Treat says he's been thinking about something, and wanted to see how she felt. He explains that he's been pretty unhappy lately, and isn't sure if Everwood is the best place for him right now. Delia: "You want to move?" Treat says part of him does, yes. Delia asks what they would do, and Treat tells her about Chicago. Delia asks what she gets if she says yes. Treat says it won't work that way this time, and there will be no promises of horses; they're going to take a vote, and that will be it. Delia points out that there are only two people voting, and what if it's one to one? Treat says in that case, they'll stay right where they are, because her vote is bigger. Delia says that's not very fair, and besides, what if Ephram comes back? Treat says Ephram can live with them in their new house, but she doesn't have to make a decision right now. Delia: "No. I think I've decided. I think you should pick." Treat's like, "What? Me?" Delia tells him that she trusts him. Treat wants her to be sure, because he's not known around this house for making good calls. Delia replies, "Ephram trusts you more than he says. He may not say it to you, but he does. Just let me know as soon as you can, 'cause if we're leaving I should tell Ethan I like him." Treat's expression is a mixture of heartbreak and elation, by which I mean "awesome." He tells Delia that those things should never wait. Hey, Doctor: heal thyself!
