The Ford Explorer-lined homestretch to the finish awaits, along with the forever waiting Salmoni and a number of locals there to make everything look festive and pretty. The locals clap and cheer as The Moustaches come rappelling down the palace wall. The Moustaches cross the finish and just mob Salmoni. There's so much moustache in this four-way hug I wouldn't be surprised to see Child Protective Services get a nod in the closing credits. They finally compose themselves so Salmoni can tell them they are officially the winners of Expedition Impossible. The Moustaches share a three-way hug. In TH, Taylor says it's an amazing feeling and makes you think dreams really can come true. Salmoni reminds them they've won $150,000 and each of them will be getting a brand new 2011 Ford Explorer so they can continue to have expeditions on their own. Taylor tells Salmoni they visualized this, complete with Dave standing there telling them they'd won. Eric goes so far as to call it "manifest destiny." Really. Eric adds that they wanted to make Expedition Impossible possible. These are really the guys who won this thing.
Really Limited make their way over the palace wall and it's remarkable to think that if it hadn't been for one mental lapse this team might have won it all. Jeff says to Salmoni he's never been so happy to be second in anything. The Moustaches greet Really Limited and give hugs. Salmoni asks Erik if it was ever in the back of his mind that he wanted to show people what someone with a disability could do. He sounds like he really hasn't given it much thought when he says, "Yeah, you know I want o make the blind people proud...I think that's a really good image for blindness to see blind people doing really big adventures and, uh, being a part of great things." In TH, he credits Jeff for keeping him safe and Ike for being a tough warrior, and even credits himself for keeping up with the fierce competition. Super sad elimination music accompanies Team Gay Angst as they slowly rappel down the palace wall, but I don't see what the difference is between coming in second and third at this point. Either you won or you didn't. AJ hangs his head while his team crosses the finish holding hands. Salmoni lets them know the official result and then asks them about how their unique relationship played into their expedition. AJ says it helped them and goes as far as to say Ryan and he share a love that goes beyond their past relationship. He considers Ryan family. And I can forgive AJ for all of the angst up until now because of this moment: When he starts talking about Kari and what she means to him, he gets choked up and calls his little sister his best friend. He says in TH the word "impossible" is no longer in their vocabulary and that's bigger than any prize. Salmoni reminds all three teams the biggest thing he always preached throughout the expedition was for them to be able to rely on their teammates. Because The Moustaches did that, they won the competition and are now given the "honor" of raising a flag with their purple color and the Expedition Impossible logo. Another three-way gypsy hug! Credits roll over a shot of the flag flapping in the wind and then Gypsies checking out their new Ford Explorers. Noticeably, Team Gay Angst is nowhere in sight. It's Jeff and Erik in the passenger seats of Taylor and Eric's Explorers. Eric jokes that the warranty is probably great, so Blind Guy Erik could drive it if he wants.
