Way Down In The Wormhole

Well, there's not really much Walter can say to counter this, is there? "That's being a father," he tells Dontember, who tells him it's not about fate, but changing fate. "It's about hope. And protecting our children." Finally, someone thinking about the children! They clasp each other's shoulders.

Meanwhile, Windmark is probing the hell out of Broyles, softly telling him to think about where the fugitives are. "They will understand you had no choice. It is acceptable. I am your ally." And after a moment, a clear "At the old Harvard University" and a "They're in the lab" come untangled from the snarl of Broyles' concealed thoughts.

But then an alarm goes off, and Windmark moves to investigate.

Outside in the hall is a horror show of Fringe's greatest hits of grotesque death, with Loyalists stumbling and dying, huge parasites bursting violently from their chests, slugs crawling out of mouths. Even some of the Observers are falling, the ones who, unlike Windmark, didn't see the cloud of toxin coming down the hallway and couldn't teleport out in time. Peter and Olivia are striding purposefully among the carnage. Hey, a bloody six-fingered handprint on the wall! Niiiice. Here's an Observer whose head has exploded! Here's one fighting off those hallucinated butterflies that really cut you! While Peter breaks in to what looks to be some sort of equipment room, Olivia finds the security centre, where she sees Broyles on a screen, slumped over in a chair. He looks fine. I mean, other than being violently probed by Windmark.

Peter finds a trigger in seconds and then he and Olivia track down Broyles' room. "You don't know how lucky you are this room has no ventilation," says Peter, throwing him a gas mask. Or how lucky he is that the two of them brought three gas masks! And not to nitpick, but the ventilated room just became VERY ventilated when they walked in. No, wait; that is exactly nitpicking. Never mind.

Elsewhere, the rest of the team are in the van watching the Loyalists and Observers set up for the shipping lane to open on a city street, the tell-tale electricity visibly crackling through the air (and Anil and the Resistance nearby as well). Olivia and Peter return -- with Broyles -- and then all hell breaks loose, with Anil and the Resistance rolling up on the shipping corridor, the Fringers close behind them and the Loyalists letting loose with automatic weapons.
